Glad you received the table runner, Marilyn, and can use it. It is both to celebrate your being named FGOTM and to help celebrate the Judilee since this year's theme is quilts. Yes, most of the fabrics were from the 10" square swap. I added a few I had - I needed a few more 10" squares for the farmgirl quilt and had a few doubles from the swap. I'm putting a border on the quilt top and then will have it quilted.

I had a big surprise when I went outside to get the yellow & red peppers Bobbie was dropping off on her way to work. Two packages in my mailbox that I didn't know were delivered yesterday. Annie usually barks at the postman but I guess she was napping.

Birthday gifts from Linda and Marilyn.

Marilyn made a shilly shally for me out of a chicken print -- love it! Thanks Marilyn.

Linda made a patchwork table runner and quilted tea cozy. Love them both. Thanks Linda.

Darlene, thank-you for the Mardi0-Gras e-card!! Our church celebrates with a pancake supper tonight, which is a tradition among the Episcopal Church. We are headed over to the beach so will miss it this year. Today , it is awful weather:cold. rainy, miserable outside. The beach is the same way as that big front from way North dives South and will chill us down to the 30s tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully, it will clear up enough this afternoon to do some sigh seeing. Might just be a wasted effort this go around! March is sometimes very fickle in north Florida.

Thanks Darlene. My pancake ingredients are measured and ready, so I think I will go mix them up and cook them.
Do you remember the stories of Little B____ Sambo?? I found the book again many years ago, cast off but well loved by lots of kids. The one story that I remember is when his Mammy made him a big tall stack of pancakes, and he sat down to eat them. I never make pancakes that I don't remember that story and wonder how on earth he could ever eat such a big stack! I can only eat two.

I remember that Marilyn. One thing I love about this group is that we remind each other of so many things we used to know as kids and such.
I hope you are enjoying your month of be our from Marilyn!

There used to be a restaurant on the coast called Sambo's and they were known for pancakes.

Marilyn, Congrats! again on being FGOTM! I am glad you liked your goodies!

We sang Deep in the Heart of Texas in Elementary School! It was one of the favorite songs!! We like to see how loud we could clap those 4 claps! LOL! also My Granny use to sing it too! and the Yellow Rose of Texas!

I guess kids don't sing in Elementary School like we did in the early 1960's. Usually the afternoon in every grade we would sing. Our teacher would ask for suggestions! hands would fly up!! Sometimes if we were having a hard day, restless, or the weather was gloomy outside, My 4th grade teacher would say. lets close our books and sing a little bit! We would, then go back to the lesson. We would all be in a better mood!

Carole, thank you for the St. Patty's day card.
Winnie, you sent a nice surprise! Your orange marmalade is so good. I opened and tasted it immediately. Yum! Thank you for the dish cloth and the pot holder. When I held it, I was flooded with memories: as a 14 year old Candy Striper, one day I was asked to go to a certain room in our hospital to help a child. That child was trying to complete a potholder.I taught my son, and every first grader I taught also learned to make them.
One year, a tall lunchroom lady asked me to get some loops for her. I did and I was so humbled when that sweet woman paid me in dimes counting 10, 20, 30, 40, 50...Then she went back to 10 and started again. It was then that I realized she was slow, But I always respected her. She was the only lunchroom lady who could set the tables correctly for all of our little ones. So thank you for my trip down memory lane.
Thank you for the two vintage inspired post cards and the chocolate, yum!
Then there was the little Easter egg with chocolates a blue teeny baby chick and two tea bags.
You brightened my day Winnie. Thank you.

Yesterday I received St Patrick day card from Carole and a sweet note. Carole I don't know what I'll be cooking on March 17 but tomorrow it's Cottage Pie with champ potatoes from my Country Irish cookbook and if you can make it I'll set a place for you at my kitchen table. lol

Thanks Debbie for the cute girl rabbit birthday card and sweet note.
