Marilyn,Where are you as far as Harvey is going to be? I was wondering about that earlier.
You keep safe out there too.

Darlene, we are about 400 miles inland. We had our first rain before daylight, 3/4" . It has been cloudy all day and we are having our second rain now. We get the outer bands of rain. This storm seems to be a monster. They say it continues to strengthen, probably will be a 4 when it hits. They also say it will only go as far North as Victoria, where they think it will stall out, then back up and move on up the Texas coast. By Wednesday they think it will be moving by Houston. That has people SCARED. Most of the time they pass through and keep going and weaken. This is a crazy monster. My former sister in law lives right on the sea wall in Rockport.

Marilyn - the rain we got this morning was not part of Harey. It was predicted last week that we had a chance of rain. And I think they have evacuated Rockport. The storm was just upgraded to a Category 4 - winds 130 Mph. I think we will be getting updates all night. One prediction even has it going BACK into the gulf, strengthening, and coming back ashore at Houston. That would not be good at all. If my DIL is sent to Houston I will be able to send pictures.

If they send her to Houston you may not see her for weeks. Hurricanes remind me of a child swinging a wet towel around and around with water going out. I love hurricane rain when it comes up here. It is warm and for several days we get little showers. The weather guessers said Dallas would be fine, don't worry...but while ago I think they were beginnin to rethink that.

Two members of my family live in Houston: my 86 year old half sister who is in a nursing home and my niece who lives and works there. They live in an area that usually does not flood badly but if they get 30+ inches of rain, who knows what will happen. My niece has plenty of supplies at her house and extra waters and food at the nursing home for her mom. I am praying for the best for them. It is scary for everyone who lives there.

Sherry, thank you for the information. I did not realize we had lost that many
hen house members!
Harvey has caused a lot of damage! It will be years before it is all like new once more. Linda I know they told people to get out...but many don't leave. Some cannot escape. Next time anyone goes to the beach, I have a challenge for you: drive around the neighborhoods, drive down town, see what the real people are dealing with. Sure the tourists are where their money comes from, so they restore those areas asap...but the real damage takes a while. Remember Sandy, what it did to New Jersey. Allen, Katrina...monster storms. I am thankful for the gentle tropical rain that is falling now. I will continue to think of and pray for those who are displaced or worse by this storm. My brother and his wife lived and worked near the coast (Corpus) then Orange/port Arthur, Bay Town/Houston when he worked for Southwestern Bell telephone. They always took us sight seeing, and told us frightening storm stories.

Someone finally said that the people walking out on the jetties, with rough seas all around, crashing all around them, are just plain stupid. I remember my brother saying that some always died from their stupidity.

So much damage. Prayers for everyone who is living or working in the areas hit by Harvey. And for the Red Cross and other volunteers who are there to help out.

Please add my Church to your prayer list. Its a small Baptist church, our pastor passed away last year and the church has gone through a lot of changes, lost members. Our new pastor Tibbits has a heart for people! Pray for him and his wife. Pray God will Bless us and we can keep the church open, so many people go to the very large churches now. WE still have Bible Study on Wed. night and Sunday night service.

Continued prayers for Texas and all farmgirls affected!

Friends, please pray for me. I have been pretty sick over the long weekend. When I saw the doctor this afternoon, he said he thinks I have diverticulitis. As we talked we concluded it was brought on by my not being able to properly chew my food...due to lack of teeth. I must drink miralax daily and take strong antibiotics twice daily for ten days. So I am hopeful that I will feel better soon. Thanks in advance for your prayers. Hugs.

Oh Marilyn You will be in my prayers, That must be so uncomfortable.
Praying, Heavenly Father, I lift my friend Marilyn up to you in prayer. please be with her with all that is going on in her body so that she is healed and will feel better really soon, and be able to eat better which will help her body to do what it is supposed to do to get well. Help her antibiotics to do their job in healing her and help her nerves in giving her peace in healing.
Lord thank you for being with her and carrying her through this whole thing.
In your precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Have a restful night Marilyn,
hugs and love.
