I am sorry Ed' s sister is so sick. Prayers for a safe trip. I hope he will bring some comfort to her, it is always special to have your family care enough to come, when you need them. I am glad you could go with him..

Well, it is 5:04 am and we are an hour away from Grand Rapids Ed loves these marathon trips. I drove for about 3-1/2 hours but he drove the rest. He slept 3 hours I slept about 20 minutes. I did finish knitting 2 UFO scarves on the way. Since I can't quilt in the car I brought UFO knit and crochet projects. I have 2 shawls and I brought all my cotton yarn do I have several crocheted cotton dishcloths I can still make. At least I'm making use of the riding time. At least in the daylight.

We've found out that Betty Lou has cancer in her breast, lungs, and bones, and has been given 2-6 months to live. She was transferred from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility for hospice care this afternoon. We will be here about another week, to help take care of financial and legal things that need to be done.

Thank you for all your prayers. Please keep them coming.

Oh so sorry to hear that Linda, I will keep Betty Lou in my prayers for comfort and ease of pain, and for her family, also you all while you help with the hard stuff. Take care and Blessings.

Linda, I am sorry about Betty Lou. I hope she can be made comfy and her pain well controlled. My mother was on Hospice, in the nursing home for her last week. I was so impressed by their loving care.
Is there anything I can do for you?

Keeping her comfortable is their main concern. Chemo and radiation would not be beneficial because the cancer is already too far along. She is not in pain yet, so that is good. We think she knew what the prognosis would be before she heard from the doctor, and she seems very calm about everything. She is comfortable, and that is important.

Neither. She has never married. She has Ed and her 2 sisters. And lots of cousin, nieces, grandkids (of friends). They are from a large family.

It is good that she has family and they love her. It was not 60 where I live today. The sun made it, but the temps were cold with a little breeze. I am bad to be working inside, warm, see the nice Sun shine and out I go. Shock!!!! Sun shine means warm to me...but not always in winter. Reminds me of Baylee age two and a half. She finds her swim suit, puts it on, runs outside and I follow. I asked where she was going. She said, "Me want to go fwimmin'". January day, 57 degrees, she remembered that I had stored her kiddie pool in the barn. She was very unhappy with me when I said "No, it is winter, too cold." But then Gwenny saved the day. We came back inside and I ran water in the tub as she gathered some toys and she went fwimmin', and had a great splashy time. There after, when she put her suit on, I put towels all over, took my seat on the toilet, and watched her play. Over the next several years we spent a lot of time in the bathroom, because her baby sister arrived that summer and asap we had two swimmers. Fun memories. Baylee will be 19 in June.

Sweet memories you made, Marilyn!

It is cold here. They were warning of black ice patches on the roads that night. The wind is really whipping around today which definitely makes it brisk out there. The snow, what little we got is pretty but I am much happier on the inside looking out when we get this. Our trip home was uneventful, thankfully. We did stop just before home at Cracker Barrel for supper. Always enjoy going there.

It was a nice weekend away and they keep the homes fires burning here, literally!

I am keeping you all in my prayers. She is comfortable is most important thing. They gave her 2-6 months . They don't know everything, a woman Miss Rachael I call her. She had a stroke , the husband took her home . Put her on hospice and told them 3 to 5 months. Here we are 12 years later. She is still here. Now can get up in her electric wheelchair go outside and off of oxygen. So keeping her in my prayers.

Marlee, that is so true. Only God knows the number of our days. My Aunt had a stroke back in the 70's and they were sure she would not recover. She is in a wheelchair and has been for the past 23 years. She just turned 95 last September and she has a sharper mind than many people I know. Will continue in prayer for them.

Thank you, everyone, for all your kind words. Betty Lou may be going back to Texas with one of Ed's son's, whose partner is a caregiver. He has said she could stay with them. We will see and I will keep everyone posted. Thanks again.
