Great news for both JT and Linda!! I am happy to hear that both of you are progressing along with your treatments and things are doing well! It is true that sometimes, our worries are actually worse that what is going on. It is a natural response but we have to try and take each day at at time and not let our worries take over and frighten us. I used to have a Nurse Evening Supervisor that would say to me, when I was fretting about stuff that might happen, "Winnie, now don't go and borrow any trouble here! We will know about it when it happens, but it also might not. We have enough right now in front of us to take care of so stop your mind from making it worse with a lot of What ifs!" She was so right and I have always tried to keep that perspective when times are tough or accidents happen.

The second treatment is done. The mask thing felt different today, and the eye pads they used really pressed into my eye sockets more than yesterday, at least it felt like it. They always say don't flinch or talk or do anything to change my expression while they smear on KY jelly and put the mask on. Do you know how hard that is? I have to breathe through my mouth since they are basically closing my nose with the mask and jelly. Today it felt like they pressed harder and I had just a small side of my mouth to breathe through. I will get through this, it is just I don't know what will happen and I guess each day will be a different adventure. In about 2 weeks the "sunburn" will probably start and that will be another new adventure.

Linda, Keeping you in prayer. Two treatments down already. That's great.

They called today and set up JT's first appt. It will be 2-3 times a week for 6 weeks. He still has to work so I am hoping he is willing to go to rehab when he needs to and get it done.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. I'm starting to feel better about the treatments. It is still an uncharted area for me.

I got a message today from a former high school classmate who had a lot worse case of basal cell plus more advanced cancers in her nose and she proceeded to go on and on about all the problems she had going through her surgeries and radiation. This really upset me, and I wish she hadn't done that. You don't need someone telling you about all the bad things that happened. I wish she hadn't said anything.

Denise, if JT will go to his therapy sessions and see how much it helps, hopefully he will continue.
My first experience was in my early 40s. I had broken my lower left leg and had been in a stabilizing device for four months. Next about 16 years ago I shattered my left wrist, then after each knee replacement and finally when I broke my right leg two years ago. I firmly believe in therapy. When my husband broke his hip he willingly went to his sessions because he had seen how much it helped me.
Linda, I'm sorry your old classmate went into all of that. What a downer!!!
Today you will do better and feel less stressed. This is what I do: think about God. Think about His mighty wings protecting me, as his feathers gently brush against my face. I close my eyes and it is done. Remember we are there with you too in prayers.

Linda,
I'm sorry you had that happen. It is sort of what JT goes through when people start telling him about people they know who have gone through similar experiences. When you are in the throes if it the last thing you want to hear is negativity.
We go through many difficult situations but we are never alone. I try to think of positive things. Maybe things I am going to do later in the day. Projects I want to work or sometimes I think of something I am hoping to do with my grandchildren. It really helps me. I do a lot of memorization and doing it during those times calms me. You are going come through this and take it one day at a time. Do you go everyday or certain times a week? You are in my prayers daily.

Such good advice from all of you! It always helps knowing that we are not alone in our struggles and we have people praying for us.
Linda, I would think that the mask and having to hold so still would almost make you feel a little claustrophobic? I hope that each one will get easier! There always seems to be THAT one person who has to tell you the worst case scenario. It's pretty insensitive. Just ignore it! It reminds me of when you have a young expectant mother and others start telling her about their labor and delivery experiences....ugh! Not what she needs or wants to hear!
Prayers for all of you and a good rest of the week and peaceful weekend!

Debbie your comment about pregnancy made me chuckle. As my belly got bigger and my
appointments got closer together...back in the dark ages...another young woman who was due about a week before me, made a statement in the waiting hall one morning. She said that when her labor pains got going she was going to sit down, and refuse to continue! She reasoned that sitting would keep her baby in her belly...well as we all know, when a baby is ready God takes control! I learned later on that she was truly a nut case

I heard from our sweet Shannon this morning. She said that they had lost their baby and she was being induced. Her husband just messaged me and said that during labor, Shannon's uterus ruptured and they had to do an emergency hysterectomy. She lost about half of her volume of blood and have been giving her infusions. He said that they had to stop the infusions for awhile because they need to get her kidneys working better. The kidney issue was brought on by today's trauma. She is stabilized and is in ICU. You all know how she does not like hospitals, surgery, etc. Her husband said it would be ok for me to share this with all of you. I told him we would all rally around them with prayer. I just CANNOT imagine what that dear woman has gone through today....I am so sad for both of them.

I am so sorry to hear about Shannon. Do you know how far along she was? Wouldn't this have been her 10th child? She and her husband and the kids have gone through so much in the past few years. We need to start showering Shannon with cards, too.

I'm not claustrophobic, but both yesterday and today right when they got the mask taped down, something itched my nose on the other side and I couldn't scratch it!!! I had to deal with the itch and now twitch or move for a minute or so, which seemed like an eternity. LOL! And the setup of mask and eye patches, etc. still didn't feel the same as it did the first day or yesterday.

I'm not sure exactly how far along Shannon was. She had a dr appt coming up on Nov.8 and they were going to have an ultrasound and find out if it was a boy or girl.

I know their house is quite a ways from the hospital, so if her husband has to go back and forth to the kids that's quite a trip. I know they have friends in the area that have babysat before, and the oldest 2 or 3 of the children can babysit, too. Prayers for the whole family.

So sorry for Shannon's loss of the baby. I'm guessing she must have been around 18-20 weeks if they were going to be able to tell them the sex. Yes, showering her with cards is a very good idea.

Thank-you Debbie for the news of Shannon. What a scary ordeal she has just been through and I know Brad has been worried sick every minute. Hopefully she will stabilize quickly and they can get her on the path to healing up. According to Shannon, her health has been compromised, from other troubling conditions, for the past few years. She has been through a lot. I agree that cards and prayers for healing are a good idea. She has also mentioned how wonderful her church family is and I hope they can help the family while Shannon recovers. It will take time for her to regain her strength after such a crisis and they have a busy farm with lots to do.

I saw a post on face book from Shannon's husband. So heartbreaking his words were from his heart. She was 20 weeks along. Many prayers.
