Sherry, I thought the name tags were a great idea, too. They were great conversation starters also. People were not afraid to go up to others and ask questions.

Today, August 2, 2016 is:

National Ice Cream Sandwich day!

For those who do not like Ice Cream Sandwich - yesterday August 1 was:

National Raspberry Cream pie day!

I'm not much into Raspberry pie but heck, add on cream and I love it! lol

Let's all celebrate pie and cream!

When Hadlee was three, she loved Black Ice Cream. Nothing else would do. That was her name for ice cream sandwiches.

My diet is happy I missed those last two days. Lol. Though I do love both raspberries and ice cream!

Today is National watermelon day! Now that I can do and there is a half sitting in the fridge!! It's what's for lunch today!

Denise - Sorry to be so late in answering, but in answer to your question about the sewing machines. Unfortunately, they are currently mostly in their cases/cabinets. I have the 3 treadles in the house - 2 in the hallway and 1 in the dining room. One handcrank is sitting on the parlor cabinet of a treadle in the dining room. 2 more handcranks are in my sewing room. I think I killed my Pfaff - the Kenmore doesn't work, either. The rest are wherever I can find room. LOL!

I guess I could call this a celebration...the dealership called yesterday to tell me they will issue me a rental today. I will have wheels again. YEA!!! My car needed some help, but when they got in they found all kinds of factory recalls, etc. So we will see how long this takes...at least a week perhaps more.

So sorry for your car troubles - and so glad you are getting a loaner. I hope airbags aren't on the recall list for you. My Acura became a money pit in the last 3 months, so I traded it in for a Honda CR-V last Thursday. Love my new car.

On the back lot are rows of cars with "Do Not Sell" tags in the window - most all due to Air Bags that need replacing. People are being told not to drive their cars if there is an air bag recall on it, but there are not enough air bags made yet to replace all the faulty air bags.

Now get this, my loaner is a brand new black Chevy Cruze...and I drive over a mile on a cliche powder road.
If I had not ridden with the grand daughters a couple of times, I would not have known how to start it (push button). It took some adjusting of seat, mirrors and steering wheel, but all is good and I am home safe.

The Chevy Cruze was the car they gave to me when I had my car accident. It is a nice car but smaller than I liked. How do you like the push button starter.
Different isn't it.

Linda, it is kind of hard not to drive your car when you need it.

Well I hope you get your cars troubles all over with.

Take care.

My new car has the push button start and the keyless entry system. So far I don't like it - at least I can't get used to it. I'm always reaching for the key to stop the car. LOL!

It is ok. I noticed the knee room in the back is small. I drove a small car when the kids were little...until their legs grew longer and they complained, so we got a bit more room. If I had not been in the girl's car with Hadlee one day---I would not have know how to start it. Russell just gave me the "key" and said enjoy. I did not look at the "key" until I was in the car...Oh no...I was glad I remembered to look for the button. Then I discovered it did not start unless my foot was on the brake??? At first I wondered if something was wrong when I stopped at a light or a stop sign. Then Robert said he had heard that some of the newer cars engines stop when you stop. Is that to cause less emissions??? The AC is super cold, so I turned it down some. This one is so new the steering is still a bit stiff. Fun to try something new.

Linda, it is strange. I had seen Baylee walk up to their car, touch the door handle and it unlocked. I then asked Hadlee what kept other people from getting in your car. She told me the key must be with the person opening the car, in hand, pocket, bag or ??? Maybe I will get used to it by the time they get my car ready.

The keyless entry is nice. IF you leave the key anywhere in the car, you cannot lock it. Also, you can't lock the car if you haven't turned it off. And mine beeps at me if you haven't turned it off.

Oh my goodness. How did cars get so smart?
The car I have wanted since I was about 26 years old is vintage--I call it a Bonnie and Clyde car. Pontiac with the big Indian Chief hood ornament. The doors opened I the middle ( at a center post on either side.) I love that car. I believe we would have more than enough knee room.

Marilyn weren't those kind of doors called suicide doors. Neat car.
I had a 57 chevy once, that was neat, but the car I wanted when I got my Sebring years ago was a 1994 Ford Taurus. I drove a rental once that sold me on them. but alas I did not get one. Oh well now I have my Tuscon, it is ok.

That term does sound familiar about the doors. An old one sat at a home in Hico for about a year. Every time I went to see my mother, I would pass by and drool, come home and beg...but it did no good. At the time it was $1,500. My teaching salary was $5,700...per YEAR. My husband made about the same but we already had two vehicle payments and all the other bills...So no room for a fun car. Several years later he sold my Chevy Blazer and took a car for me plus some cash. That was my favorite car of all. A chocolate brown Chevy Camero. I fell in love. Probably the most comfy ride. Now I understand the devotion of Corvette owners.

my mom had a chevy camaro and kept it until she passed on. She liked that car.
My nephew just recently sold it. He needed money more than the car.
I understand.
