Carole,
Love the Build a Bear place in Albany. I so miss being back home in NY sometimes. Thanks for sharing. Such a cute story.

I love teddy bears. The teddy that I carried around as a tiny child, was much loved. But as a second grader I gave it up so a needy child could have a Christmas gift. I have made teddies and collected them since I was about 27 years old. Baylee and Hadlee have most of them now.
When Hadlee had her brain tumor surgery, we were allowed to see her, just before she went in to surgery. She had bracelets of all colors, black sharpie drawing on her head and a fluffy white teddy, who also had bracelets to match. He had been brought up from the Build a Bear shop down stairs. He went to surgery with her, clutched in the curve of her left arm. We were not allowed to see her after the ten hour surgery, or even the next day. Only mommy and daddy were allowed in. But when we saw her that next day, little white bear was secure, in the crook of her left arm. Someone had given her a brown bear from Build a Bear also, and then another. When we had to rush her back to the hospital, after only 48 hours at home, she had to stay for three more days. That Saturday she asked to go downstairs to see where her teddys had been made. So if you ever have a child, or grandchild who needs Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas...rest assured they have a Build a Bear and a Starbucks.

I'm with Winnie - perfect FarmGirl kinda day.

All the talk about Teddy Bears reminded me of a tea I gave where each guest bought her favorite doll or Teddy Bear. I set up a child's table in the living room for the 'wee' guests with a vintage toy tea set.

I will celebrate today by dressing my two rag dolls and my son's first Teddy Bear for the fall. A little sewing by be required.

Sara What a fun tea party! I would have loved to go that one.

I have a favorite teddy bear sitting on my couch with a few other non teddy friends. A white buffalo kitty's, owls, and one other fluffy teddy.
A friend of mine that lives here in Loleta has a bear collection. They are all over the house and in cabinets and in boxes and every where. Some are very old. some she has bought through the years and some given to her. When we do the parade for the Chamber on July 4, we have some of her bears all over our float.
Here are a few. It was a nice float this year.

That is neat, to let the bears ride on the float.

A day for all of us! Grammies and Papas, and Grandpa's and Grandmas, and all of the other names the little ones and their parents give us. There is no role any better.
Like so many of you, I have always been very close to my girls, and it is so rewarding. I only had one living grandma. I only saw her twice a year...not almost every day. My own mother did not want to help us with our children...and now that I know what a blessing I have been given, I feel sorry for her, she missed so much.
HAPPY grandparents day to all of us.

Sounds yummy! On the subject of Teddy Bears, I have three or four to give to someone. Do any of you know of a person that would like one or all of them. They are new ones that have been sitting here waiting for a home. My daughter decided she didn't want them after all. She kept lots of stuffed toys, but these weren't special to her. Would like to give them to someone that really wants them rather than to Goodwill.

Brenda, have you thought of your fire dept. Ours takes donated teddy bears, they put them in ambulances, fire trucks, squad cars, etc. Then when a child is found in a bad situation, a bear is given to them for comfort. If yours does not do that, you could send them my way.

i like Natl. Peanut Day and Positive Thinking day, I need that. Yes the Fire Dept would be good to give the Teddy Bears to. For the little ones that are stressed they can give them to hug.

I think I will go eat a Peanut.
hugs
