Today October 19 is

Evaluate your life day! hum ....
Hagfish day!

I took it upon myself to look up what a hagfish was: The Atlantic hagfish, scientifically known as Myxine glutinosa, is an unusual sea creature. Its body is covered with special glands that can emit a sticky slime. In fact, a single hagfish can produce enough slime at one time to fill a milk jug. This has earned it the name "slime eel", although it is really not an eel at all. A hagfish will actually "sneeze" when its own nostrils fill with slime. Hagfish slime is different that any other natural slime secretion in that it is reinforced with tiny fibers. These fibers make the slime strong and difficult to remove. It is believed that the hagfish uses this slime to protect itself from predators. It can also be used to easily produce a protective cocoon for the hagfish. It is believed that this slime can actually suffocate predators by clogging their gills if they come in contact with it. The hagfish has a trick for escaping this slime cocoon. Believe it or not, this animal can tie itself in a knot and then pass the knot down the length of its body to wipe the slime away. (http://www.seasky.org/deep-sea/atlantic-hagfish.html)

Seriously, who would want to celebrate with a hagfish after you've evaluated your life? A Glass of wine, chocolate .... NOT hagfish!!!!

Today is a celebration for me. It is my second born daughter's birthday! Unfortunately due to distance we don't get to celebrate it with her but we do get to celebrate her and all the things she has brought to our lives. She has grown into a beautiful woman who knows who she is and where she is headed.

Thank you for the birthday card and the instructions for the sweet little quilt, Carole. I have a collection of primitive fabrics waiting for a use. Now I have a pattern to use with them.

Ladies,we went treasure hunting this morning. Hadlee scored the sweetest soft blueish green little table with short legs. You know from back in the day when folks had breakfast in bed. It has some flowers on it. The top and bottom were apart, but a simple fix for her Bapa. She only paid $1.
At another house I found a pile of fabric. Some blue, black and green along with other small pieces. I asked How much. $3. But here is the crazy good part. There were 20 14" blocks, cross stitched with two flowers each in that stack of fabric. Then in a bag there was a slipper pattern and assorted other stuff for $1. A quilt top ready to set together and a pattern with the pieces already cut. Wow. We found other treasures too. The weather was beautiful. We had a fun family adventure.

No Carole I don't think those Hagfish are in for parties, I wouldn't want them at mine.

I'll go for the nut day! sounds like it would be really fun or really annoying. :D

We have reason to celebrate today. I have a great great nephew born early this morning. He was born on his aunt's 40th birthday. I had forgotten that he was due in November. We rarely ever see my sister's family. Thank goodness for Facebook.

November 13 is World Kindness Day. True kindness is not a superficial and occasional thing—it is profound and essential, and requires vigilance.

I believe if we can do nothing we can always be kind. I will be the first to say that I have not always practiced this. I am learning to respond and not react.

He is cute! I need a bigger fridge. Mine is clean but crammed full because we shop once a week and we also started feeding the dogs chicken breasts and rice cooked in the broth. My space shrunk.
