I believe every day we are here, alive, on this earth, able to walk and talk, think, help someone else, love others...That is reason to celebrate. Each breath is a gift from God. For me this week is strange, not going to work each morning, but the flare that has taken over my body says I needed to be at home this week. Pain meds have helped me get up and do some work, wash some dishes and help my grand daughter.

I will definitely be celebrating my dog today and give her a special treat. We have a german shepherd mix rescue who is scared of her own shadow, but sounds ferocious when she hears someone new ;) I'm not sure if she would do any harm, but she would certainly try to protect, and besides... she has teeth, so she can bite ;) (My favorite response when someone asks if she bites! Seems like a silly question to me!)

We are also celebrating my son Lee who turns 11 today! He is maturing into a sweet young man and I thank God for him :) My oldest will be baking him a cake today... She loves to decorate cakes, but this year he will be getting a plain one due to not having her stuff, but it will be enjoyed and appreciated all the same! And of course he had his choice of dinners, so chili is on the menu for tonight :)

Life is good and God has blessed <3

My dog Annie could be classified as a 'Mutt' since she is of unknown mix breeds. I think she is part grand Dane but who knows. She's in the back yard now playing with a 7" fallen limb. She drugged it from one end of the yard to the other. Her treat for the day is leftover Tasha Tudor macaroni and cheese. Truth known I celebrate her everyday - she is my companion and protector.

Tillie, Scruffy and Lucky live at our house. Lucky is very lonely since Friday died. My husband continues to drop by the pound to see what is there. Usually God provides our bigger outside dogs, but after several weeks no other lonely, hungry doggies have shown up. Lucky, named by the kids because she was lucky to find us and a good home, still howls when the coyotes begin to yelp, but at her age she does not venture out too far. We love our dogs, and yes they get treats.

Love these reports yesterday of beloved children and fur friends celebrating! While we don't currently have a dog, our kitty, Mr.Bump, is a constant joy and companion to us here everyday. He is presently sitting beside my computer and swishing his tail while staring out the window. He is my little Buddy all day long!

Winnie, Mr. Bump is handsome. Our stray young mama cat who adopted us, and brought along three kittens, is living on the sewing room porch. I gave them two old fleece blankets for a nest. Mama is the best hunter we have ever had around here. Every day she goes out to find dinner...the other day it was a rat as big as the kittens. Yesterday it was a mouse and a wren. Hadlee was sad when she caught a cardinal. Some days she may bring in three things. When I come home from work she comes out and says meow, meow.

Since I hadn't seen where any had posted what today's holiday is, I googled it. I didn't realize there are so many holidays per day... I'm only going to post a couple... Today is....

International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Make a Gift Day
National Apple Pie Day

I'm not sure I am going to have the opportunity to bake an apple pie today, so we might celebrate that one tomorrow instead... but I will certainly be celebrating the first two. Persons with disabilities come in different shapes and sizes. My hubby and my 7 year old both classify. My hubby is actually classified as 90% disabled by the VA due to the nerve damage resulting from his back injury (due to the military). It is why they medically retired him! My daughter is also disabled... she has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis due to the encephalitis and meningitis she had when she was only about 22 months old. Both of my loved ones have difficulties throughout the year due to their disabilities... but every day they are a blessing! I know their disabilities are not as severe as they could be... and I praise God for that... but I also pray that He might help them through their pain and struggles!

As for make a gift day, our house has been buzzing with gift making for one another. Everyone from my 5 year old up (well my hubby and I are gifting together) are making gifts for one another.

Shannon, I am sorry for the pain your husband and young daughter must suffer from. We have friends whose middle daughter was diagnosed at two with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. She is a teen now, but always medicated in order to keep being active. Back pain is not fun. I know. My husband knows. May God bless them and you.

Today is DECEMBER 7
NATIONAL PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY
NATIONAL COTTON CANDY DAY...
I'm sure more of us are remembering Pearl Harbor than are celebrating cotton candy. Though I won't deny it is a happier thing to celebrate.

I was born the following March after Pearl Harbor. I grew up knowing what Dec 7 meant. It's one of those dates that has stayed with me. Like Nov 22 the day Kennedy was shot and Sept 11.
