Winnie, thanks for the link. Back then, everyone carried with them a hankie. I am not surprised that some would decorated them with stitches. Although you could buy some already stitched, I wouldn't be surprised that the hankie would be stitched by the one sending it.

A while back one of my customers gave me a huge bag of linen from her great aunt. I just took it out to see if I had a heart hankie. I only found this one. The flowers look like hearts.

I have a collection of hankies from my mother and grandmothers. They are either stitched, or tatted or crocheted on the edging. The stitched ones are beautiful. I also have some I use everyday. There's always one in my purse, coat pocket and pocket of my jeans.
That one is pretty Carole.

I wore my Boyd's Bears " Practice Random Acts of Kindness" teddy bear pin to school today. I did not even know today was that special day.

can you imagine how beautiful that hankie that Carole has would look in a quilt like this one I found on line. I bet it would be lovely.

I wonder if they are appliquéd on or how they attached those hankies?

Darlene, gorgeous hankie quilt you posted. I think they are stitched on a fabric and then pieced. I've never seen a hankie quilt myself.

Today February 21 is:

Card Reading day! - no sure what kind of cards they are referring to!
Sticky Bun day! Oh yummy!
International Mother Language day! - Not sure what that is ....

I'll celebrate card reading day while I eat a sticky bun!

Beautiful hankie quilt Darlene. Things seem to be getting back to normal for me. Thank You to all of you that sent me Valentine Cards. This year I just didn't get to cards for the holiday at all. I barely found time to make one for my DH.

My DH and I are celebrating Spring early by getting the yard cleaned up. We have raked and haul loads of leaves and sticks away. Soon the crocus will be blossoming along with other spring flowers hopefully. We know more snow will be coming though. Happy Spring early everyone.

We have more than enough twigs and shed tree limbs to pick up. That is my job and I would rather sew!

Tomorrow is the birthday of Dr. Seuss. We are fixing green eggs and ham for our kindergarten class. Biscuits and jelly too. I took a dozen green eggs, but she said she adds food color to them as she beats them up.
Let's hope they taste better than her stone soup.

Our school is having green eggs and ham for breakfast and then volunteers go to the classes and read the Doctor Seuss books to them. and the Staff have a pot luck for the volunteers.
They have a lot of fun.
