Another gorgeous day here. The sun is shining and a cool breeze is blowing. Opened all the windows to let the fresh air in!

Hot and Humid! The usual afternoon thunderstorms are looking likely as the sky is getting cloudy. Yep. Summer is here and not much change will happen until we hit either a Tropical Storm that hits or a Hurricane. How many more days until mid October??? LOL!!

It was so pleasant the last couple of days -- upper 70s. Upper 80s today then back into the 100s+ again. I hope I have enough UFOs to last me through a hot summer.

Well we had a night of thunder and lightening the other night, not just a little one this one had some lightening spreading across the skies. That was big for here.
It was nice yesterday and today too. It is supposed to warm up here, not looking forward to that.
oh well it is pretty anyway.
Have a good day

Hey Judith you might be visited by A real ufo. I would not be a believer but I actually sat in the back of my son's pick up truck, in front of his horse barn and watched a huge one, way up in the sky. It just sat there! My son told us it had come the might before...but did not stay very long. He wondered if it was attracted by the arena lights. That was about 12 years ago.

Darlene you must usually have tropical rain. I've been rained on in Hawaii and St. Thomas and never saw lightening or heard thunder.

It was a beautiful day here. We had a small rain this morning and than it warmed up to 80 and a light breeze. A perfect day to work and play outside.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Looks like we are jumping into summer today. Supposed to be a high of 90. Don't think I'm quite ready for it. It's been in the low 80's but mostly 70's lately. It is what it is and I'm sure will get back down to the low 80s again. This is only June. Weather wise it seems like we are about a month behind.

We also seem to be ahead, but then I think about my garden plants. Even though I started my seed on Valentine's day and in their own room with lights that warmed them and helped them grow...what I did not realize was that the temperature of the ground and the tub temps were not warm enough...so the plants just sat and sat...until about three weeks ago. I have learned a lot this year.
Next year...don't get in such a big hurry.
Next year do not bring horse manure from the barn to use as fertilizer. Our son begins each hay season with weed killer. He does not apply it himself, he hires the guys who are pros. But it leaves a residue that must last all season. The hay is cut, dried and rolled up. The horses are fed that hay as well as alfalfa that probably has even more weed killer on it. So that bright green poop, that eventually turns into something that resembles soil is so full of poison, tomatoes look weird when planted in it.Thankfully only the left over clump of tomato plants are effected. I will dig them out and try them in the regular dirt. If they live ok if they don't ok.
Next year I will buy even more soil with compost than the many bags we bought this year. My husband started a new water trough raided bed this year. And even filling it 2/3 full of rotting firewood ...it still took many bags of soil to fill it up.
As they say ...you live and you learn.

Year before last i thought I would start a worm bed. I bought a cup of fishing worms at Wal-Mart. I made my little worm home using two plastic shoe boxes. I even drilled tiny holes so the worms would not escape but moisture would. I mixed up a batch of worm food and gave them banana peels and avocado hulls. After a couple of rather cold months I was afraid I was killing them. So I dumped them in the middle section of the raised bed. Wow. I was wrong, they had already multiplied about three times. So every time I begin to dig out there now I find huge fishing worms, in all three sections. Many many momma worms. I am so pleased that God took care of his worms, they lived and have not run away and they are growing. Yea!

Well, we had a storm yesterday afternoon that took a big limb off of one of our mulberry trees. I think it was one of the white mulberry.
Today is forecast to be 90 again with storms tonight. The humidity is at 92, it will be uncomfortable for anyone needing to be outside here today.

102 here today; cooler than 104 yesterday but not that you could notice. Humidity is 20-30% so I am having to keep the plants watered well and misting the air around the orchids.

Temps are warm again today. We had bad storms late last night. As far as I know there was no damage but the storms on Wednesday set off a derecho and lots of trees were down and many people are still without power. The one last night didn't last long, we got lots of rain.

Tropical storm Cristobal is headed for Louisiana but the effects are reaching the western Florida coastline . Today we are to get rounds of storms and possible heavy rains. This storm is connecting with another low front currently in the eastern Gulf and causing rip currents and high tides along with the rains. Here we go......off to a active Hurricane season early this year. Is it October anytime soon... lol!!!!
