A cold day! Presently 10 with a high of 15. We had a lovely dusting of snow this morning. Snow makes everything so pretty! Cheers!

We were so cool today with a cold north wind...no wonder so many are sick. We were in the 70s yesterday. I am on a Lysol spray detail. I spray at home and at school. I do not want to get this mess.

Cloudy and hi of 47 today. Possibility of rain on Mon with a hi of 70. Drought persists here in northeast Texas. So praying the rain does show up on Mon.

The county came last week and worked for several days, trying to fix the culvert situation on the county road. Now we have a strange cement wall with three pieces of old guard rail on top. So if anyone rounds that hair pin curve too fast now...They could die...in the past they went off into a deep hole. On the other side they put cement and rounded it off so water will flow into the creek. Lots of new kaliche was put on top of the road and around the top of the culvert on either side. You could see three feet of the culvert on either side before they fixed it. So when it rains the first time on that, it may be slick and messy. I am glad they fixed it...but feel that they could have put a guard rail on the other side and some reflectors too.

Marilyn, I'm driven on wet white rock s-curved country roads and they can be scary. You will slip and slide just like on ice.

One of my scariest experiences was driving through a swarm of grasshoppers over ten years ago. The road was so slick with their bodies it was like driving on ice or oil. I had to use the windshield wipers to be able to see. That summer grasshoppers were the nearest thing I have ever seen to a Biblical plague. There were so many of them that the ground looked like it was moving. They ate everything in sight including screens off windows and doors. Since that year grasshoppers have been at normal levels.

I do remember that grasshopper mess. I did not drive when they were so abundant, but I know it was frightening. People don't realize how slick pavement becomes when the rain begins to mix with the oils left behind by thousands of vehicles. Over the years we have had our private road redone four times, always slick, muddy and rutted when the rain ends. This time my son ordered bigger rock (kaliche) to fill the huge holes. That was almost impossible to walk on, very frightening when your feet begin moving in ways you don't expect. But it accomplished what he intended...filled holes that haven't become big holes again.

Denise, please stay warm and safe.
It seems like everyone is having crazy, insane weather. No wonder folks get sick.

I guess it is floods and slides here this week. The river is up and we shall see. The postmaster here got stuck at home up in the hills due to slides.
I hope it clears up but the river is up there. My pharmacy is on the on the other side of the river. We shall see.

Sounds like you are having Texas weather, Denise. Here they say if you don't like the weather just stick around a couple hours or a day. LOL!

Darlene, beautiful California is being dumped upon once again. So sorry. Stay safe...high and dry. I ask God each day to keep you and our other farm girl sisters safe with the wild and crazy weather. God bless you.

I understand. Grey gets old, very quickly. How much rain have you had so far. When is it expected to move out?

I don't know how much rain we have had I do know that our drought is over. They think the river will be cresting up till at least tomorrow afternoon, depending on the rain more South of us and the high tides. We shall see.

Wow. We beg, we pray, we sing and some do rain dances because the earth is so dry. Then the heavens open up and give us more blessings than we thought possible. City folks complain, because their designer duds and shoes got wet, dashing into a store to grab some milk and bread. While farmers and ranchers are singing praises and thanking God for providing moisture to grow the wheat for the bread, the corn, etc. to feed the cows so they can give their milk. And those guys and their families walk in mud, drive in mud and sometimes get stuck in it...just part of another day...doing God's work...in the country. I love my life---in the country.

The mornings are cold, 32°, but the sun made the afternoon pleasant! Wondering how you sisters out in the north west, as well as the north east fared as your snow storms came through???

The weather is so unpredictable! One day 22, the next day 70! We are still thankful for all the rain we are getting because of the terrible drought and wildfires we had around Thanksgiving! Just pray it wouldn't come all at once like it is doing in the NW! Wish you could share with those folks in Texas. My sister is on the coast of MA and they sure got the snow storm yesterday, with another coming in this weekend! Praying you all are safe and stay safe!
A gorgeous sunset here tonight and the Full Snow Moon is amazing!
Hugs

Well the clouds are breaking up and the blue sky came out although the river did rise alot, but not horribly as last time.
Oh tonight as the clouds were breaking up I got to see the snow moon, it was beautiful.

I didn't see the Venus and Mars though.
