Dreary here today - so far at least. Texas weather changes fast - sometimes drastically - within hours. LOL!

I didn't think the rain was that bad here but we are under flood watch. I don't worry too much about that as we live on a hill so we rarely have trouble with flooding in our area.

It is sunny here today, the sky was beautiful last night but my iPad doesn’t catch the reds that well. I got it to one time but that was it.

Our days are sunny, with a cool breeze. We were in the lower 80s yesterday and they predict that again today...before we become cooler with clouds and rain predicted for Wednesday and Thursday. I think they are predicting that we should see night time temps in the 30s next week. Burrrr! Time for sweaters.

Connie,
Your yesterday is our today. It has been raining on and off all day. Some times it comes down hard then lets up then rains hard again. Dreary day for sure but is supposed to clear off tonight. Looking forward to breezy and sunny tomorrow.

Did I mention hot and humid??? Yep.. 87 yesterday and today and forecast same for tomorrow. Supposedly it will rain on Friday and cool off to upper 70s and 80. If is is less humid, that will be pleasant.

Winnie, our hot and humid weather is behind us. Light freeze warning for Sat morning. Hope your area cools down soon.

I'm covering outside plants with leaves. Not enough leaves to rake yet but they do come in handy to cover plants and use as mulch.

Sara,
I never heard of covering plants with leaves. What a great idea. We have already had a freeze here. Today we have a high of 57/60 and sunshine. I just wish it wouldn't get dark so soon.

Well yesterday we were dry, no rain, just foggy all day long. This morning we started the day with a five minute downpour. Now we wait...it is supposed to shower off and on all day long and into the night. Does my husband have any wood ready for the wood fire??? NO! His forgetter is working double time. Now it will all be wet once more. Oh well, we have plenty of scrap lumber that I saved for crafting! We have three cords of wood, neatly stacked from last winter's ice storm, but he has never covered any of it. Mental note to me...buy some tarps! I'm learning that trying to remember for two old people is very hard to do. Start a new list!

Two days past it has been sunny and beautiful. Today is supposed to rain but then Saturday and Sunday will be beautiful again. Then two days more of rain. As long as we get sunshine in between I am fine. When we have more rain than sun though I have a hard time.

We have cold and sunny in my area, which is nice but sad to say that up in an area where the big fires were last summer a new fire is burning and it burned up the town of Paradise and on its way toChico.
Also is a fire down South burning by Malibu and areas down there. Every year they get the Santa Ana winds which are heavy and it is pushing that fire a long. It is sad in California.
Well it is pretty here.
Have a good day!

Hugs

Darlene

Darlene those fires are frightening.
It was cold here today! 53° but a North wind of 15mph made it feel like 30° to me. I need to get some winter clothes out to wear. Last year we did not get this cold until mid January. I tried to stay inside but after lunch the horses needed water, and Hadlee reported that my bungie cords that keep the big heavy gate tied back out of the way during the day, had broken. So I took a bag of trash and drove down the lane to fix the gate and leave the trash. Then the chickens needed to eat.The only time I have been really warm today was in the bathroom, when I took my shower to wash that barn smell away.

Hard to imsgine all those fires. Thousands of houses burned and many more thousands in the path of the fires. News said 6 fires burning right now, and in the south those Santa Ana winds wreaka havoc every year.

Prayers to all in the path of the fire.

Yes, II guess they do, Iam not sure of it but
I think I heard Malibu was gone. Paradise up North is burned out and the feather river hospital was burned and cars and the photos and videos were horrible and so sad. I could just cry!

Hi everyone, we finally have some cold weather. And I just luv it. My two furbabies not so much. I luv having little blankets around so they get up under it and snuggle.
Hot chocolate yummy.
The wind is really blowing. We had rain yesterday morning but it quit by noon then the temp.
dropped about 30 degrees. So it got cold. Now it feels like Thanksgiving is here.

Marlee,
So glad to see you. It is cold and windy here today. Feels good but I don't like the wind.
I hope those fires are not near you Darlene. So devastating for so many.

Thank you Marlee, our area had been good, some of those fires sad to say I think we’re set on purpose.
Then the winds take it away. Firenadoes are really bad in these fires, they make their own winds and act like tornadoes with fire in them. Those are scary!
My area has been good, thank God!
We have tremors a lot! This morning one hit somewhere and is was like something hit the front of my house, a Big Bang, that was it, got me up fast though.
Enough of that, our day is beautiful and sunny, cool though.
You all have a wonderful Saturday.

Connie I agree! Jesse, on bp earthwatch, on you tube, has been saying we were entering a grand solar minimum ( what ever that means)for over a year. For years we have had such mild winters, but I do remember when I came here to go to college in 1961, it was cold!!! Of course I had grown up in the panhandle, and western Texas after being born up in northern texas! So you would think I was used to the cold...no ...Now I'm spoiled. I am freezing. It was 40 here this morning. The wind is the killer. I can take 20° with no wind much better than the past two days. My DIL says we are due. She says every 50years it gets cold and bad.??? She also says that the third time she slid off a snowy Wisconsin road, she came south!that was about 32 years ago.

Well I take it back on my yesterday morning tremor, the back of my house is connected to the Post Office and one of the drivers backed into the overhang of the Post office and I felt it back in my living room. Nothing badly damaged on my end. That was good.
