We are enjoying a beautiful day. I wore a sweater to the barn to water horses but quickly removed it. I came back home with a big bag of fresh hay for nest boxes. I also brought a few alfalfa cubes and put some water over them to soften them up. I will see what the young girls think of their treat today.
I finally got my new hose hooked up and refilled about 14 horse supplement tubs and eight kitty litter jugs with water. It is a lot easier to water the chickens, when you must wrap the outdoor hydrants and remove the hoses due to freezing temps (God filled them with rain water, but we finally used it all up.) The good thing about Texas is that when the cold spells come, they seldom last more than a week. Then we get a few sunny days to break things up.

Well my friends, we are set for a big blue norther! About 3am Wednesday the message came from local police dept. We actually had a very nice cloudy day with very light winds. So we got wood in for the wood stove and more in the garage. Since my husband's wreck and very sore ribs...we were both moving slower than usual. Tomorrow morning I must take care of my hens bring up more hay, etc. .. I noticed that the huge oak tree that I must walk under to get to the pens lost a rotten limb last night.
So I do not want to be out there when the winds are gusting as high as 55mph. We had a bit of rain this evening. More rain and snow are forecast tomorrow evening and Friday. Blizzard??? Who knows. The original forecast had temps in the upper 30s...now they are predicting 33°. Popping power lines can also be a problem.preparing for winter just got crazier! Be safe everyone. God bless us all.

Marilyn stay warm and away from falling branches. My big oak tree is always dropping twigs to large branches. The northern is going to miss me - thunderstorms in the forecast - low of high 30s - low 40s.

After a week of chilly temps and a freeze two nights ago, we are headed towards a warm up and a super rain storm on Friday as a front moves through. Our rivers are at above flood stage from all the rain we have had in the last 4 weeks. It is going to be soggy for sure around here. I am emailing Santa to make sure he has a plan B for us down here in the southeast. LOL!!!

While everyone west of us is looking at snow showers we are getting rain this weekend. We haven't had too much recently so I'm glad for it. I'd rather have some snow though. It is just chilly here today.

Denise, now they say we shall have snow 3" or maybe more. .. But it will be melting away on Friday. Now if we can believe anything we read...because every time I get a new weather alert it changes a little.
I read the wind warning to Hadlee this morning, and mentioned snow. Her response was that snow does not fall at 33°. I told her that in Texas it does not fall at 27° either. Funny kid. Just like her mom...and they were neither one born in Missouri. (Growing up there was some saying about people from Missouri have to be shown...they don't believe what someone says.

Stay warm and safe out there and away from tree branches,
The loggers had a name for them here but I. Can’t remember what it is at the moment.
Anyway keep warm.

Guess what! The weather guesses got the wind correct...it was gusty and on so cold, even tho we never were at freezing. No Snow! My husband went to Coleman, Tx. with our friend and they saw some on the way out there.

Linda, Sara, Sherry, Marlee and Connie...as well as anyone else in the path of this slow moving double line of thunderstorms...just know that this too will pass.
Thankfully we got some rain and a bit of wind but we were in a tornado watch from 2 until 10 pm. It rained on into the night with plenty of thunder and lightening.
It has finally moved past us. So I hope you just have rain too. God bless you.

We got rain, thunder & lightening and sometime during the night I lost power but it was back on when I woke at 5a.m. Wouldn't have known it except for all the flashing clocks I have to re-set. Thankful for the rain.

I never dreamed of was so large or so slow moving when we got the alert. In fact it was about six hours between the two systems for us. The second very long front was the ominous looking one on radar maps.
I'm glad God took good care of you and is too!

Hi Marilyn, yep we got storms this morning. Raining and it was moving in from East Texas. It's not cold right now. But everything is soggy. Poncho and Duke (dogs) did not feel that it was in their best interest to got outside. They are snuggling with their blankets I got them for Christmas. LOL. They are funny! Don't know the weather for the next few days.
But it's hot chocolate time. With a Reese"s mini in the bottom. I call it Country Gormet'.

The weather prediction is for 80 degrees everyday through Tuesday!! Guess it is time for those short sleeve shirts again!! LOL!! Christmas is like this sometimes./ We get a cold spell followed by an above average warm spell. The other day when I was getting some oranges off my tree, I noticed that the azalea bush beside the tree has big flower buds already!! I hope we don't stay warm too long or they will bloom and then we will get a cold blast and the flowers will all die. Poor plants down here stay so confused!!

Ugh, raining from last night until Saturday morning. They were out putting up the snow fences yesterday. So I don't know if they are anticipating snow in the forecast or just take precautions. They are a bit late getting them up this year.

Today it's Dr. Jekyll - Mr. Hyde kind of day. The warm sunshine beckons me to sit on the back deck while the cold wind sends me running back inside. So goes a winter afternoon in northeast Texas.

We had a warm and humid day until it poured rain about 3pm. Now, the rain is over and I can feel the cooler temps drifting in. I finally turned off the AC and opened the windows to take advantage of cooler weather headed down our way for a few days. The past week has been so humid and yucky!
