Many years ago I have silk long johns to the other three adults, every Christmas. They loved them. Then we cycled through some warmer winters...now it is COLD again. This year Julie have her crew long johns, although not silk they were the new fabric they are using. My son loves wool! He has some wool caps, etc. Leather gloves or insulated ones, wool socks. He is outdoors so much he has a full face cover. He layers and layers. Perhaps that is why I found a best at the barn last week...It was set with some mud so I brought it home for a wash.

Beautiful day today! So thankful the wind has stopped blowing. It is still a slight breeze and still cold but since I am going out I least it won't be the biting wind in your face kind of day.

I'd take the 58! It's a high of 31 here today and a low tonight of 17. I am grateful for a working heater and woodstove. I always look forward to the 50ish degree temps come Springtime!

We have 52 degrees at the moment with blue skies and possible coastal flooding, I am not close to it though, fine with me.

Someone is not playing nice! The weather guesses said it would be sunny and cool all week. Today was 'Supposed 'to be up near 60 with sun, instead we have heavy clouds, strong South wind and Mr. Sun is hiding!!!

Boy how things can change...almost in an instant. When I fed the chickens the wind was from the north, strong and bitter cold. I left the house in a sweater, because I had no idea the wind had changed its mind. When I came back I told my husband I had turned into a pop cicle!

Darlene,
Glad you aren't close to the coastal flooding and having to deal with that.

It's been crazy weather here ... between snow storms (which I love) and below zero temperatures and now to rain .... all in less than a week!!!!! It is presently 41F today.

Raining today ... turning our beautiful snow into mush! Oh well, C'est la vie!

Two years ago I worked in the yard in January, in a sun dress and I got a nice tan! Not this year for sure. Even today, as beautiful as it was, I wore a long fleece skirt and top.

Connie you are making me cold!
The South wind is just as cold as the north wind, this time of year.
We had frost this morning. The horses have been having a thin layer of ice on their water when I get there at lunch time.Of course it is broken because after eating those hay cubes they are hungry.

When the girls were little I planted some flowers by their swing set. As soon as they saw a bloom...SNAP...off came its 'head'___no stem at all. I tried but they got too excited to find our first spring flower.
On the way back to the house, from the chicken pens, just while ago I saw these beauties by the swing set. I could not resist taking a photo and sending it to them both. It is such a sweet memory.

OH Marilyn! Beautiful picture!!! Daffodils are my favorite! The neighborhood I grew up in had 100's of them. Everyone had them in their yard! All of us kids would pick them on the way to school to take to our teacher. Mine usually bloom right after Valentine's Day! I do the same thing, Pick them! I have some dwarf ones that I got at Wal-mart about 10 years ago. They are so cute!

Yes! The days are getting longer. Last night it didn't get dark until almost 5:45!! I am itching to get into my raised flower beds!!

Connie, I have two other places in our yard where spring bulbs come up. Odd places...makes me think I let the kids do the planting.
I could kick myself for not getting some Egyptian Walking onions and jonquils from my mother in law's yard before she died. I was busy seeing after my own mother and grandbaby #one.I
I ordered some walking onions last summer for autumn shipment. They ran out and refunded my money. I was sad. I will try again this year.

I was going to church and though I saw smoke but as I drove along it was gone, it was sunny all the way to Ferndale but jus before I got to the town it was totally foggy. It cleared up after church. Crazy weather!

I remember last winter when you posted a photo of some birds in the rain, I was so surprised you had green grass while everything here is brown...except the wheat and peas that my son planted. The horses and cows and calves keep the tops eaten off but the green is there, just very short.
We had another beautiful day today.Thank you God.

Well I think we are getting a kiss of winter tonight! Since have gotten up and from the north, so they are cold, busting to 35mph. Brrrr
Perhaps God decided we needed some help to clean our road, because I just saw big puffs of kalichi dust being pushed down the road.
Back to a cold but sunny day tomorrow. By weeks end we may make it to the 70s.
