It has not been a bad winter so far as far as freezing moisture, but it is a cold one and a windy one too! February sometimes has lots of surprises for us. Since Bay has three long drives every week this semester...I'll be praying for nice weather for her.

We received some snow rhis evening and along with came that old blowing wind. Very cold tonight. Couldn't sleep so I'm down here by the fire. I can hear the wind less down here.

That's the way I was when we had the 50mph gusta last week. The living room does not have three huge trees that could blow over. They are alive and appear healthy but it is worrisome when the strong winds blow. Besides the noise of things falling or knocking against the house. Old windows rattling.I
It can make one uneasy.

Marilyn I know what you mean about big trees when the wind is blowing. I pray over my big oak in the backyard. It's less than 8' from my computer/guest room. Since the time I have been here it has dropped large branches - all have missed house, deck, and fence that's why I keep praying and giving praise over that tree.

33 this morning and low 40s for the day. Rain in the forecast later this week but so is temperatures of low 60s. Anytime it rains in early Feb and it's 60 I'm a happy girl. Much better than 19 and rain/sleet.

Sara the reason it makes me a bit nervous, is because we had that big pecan tree fall on our house one Saturday night several years ago.

It has been 30 below zero her today. Wind chills are at 50 below. Schools will be closed tomorrow for the fourth day. Not a record but darn cold. 38 above by Saturday. Goofy weather everywhere.

The effects of the Polar Vortex winds have even pushe colder weather down our way the past few days. Of course nothing like the states up North, but a nice reprieve for us. Local weather predictions are that next week will have temps reaching 80 again! I have been enjoying sweater weather so much these past weeks and I hope more cold weather is ahead before March. WE have been getting a lot of rain too. Last Sunday , we had another 2+ inches and more rain is coming this weekend. It has been staying pretty wet in the area and cooler temps has allowed water to stand around longer in low lying places.

It must be Winnie because we have never had temps this low. It is 6 right now with a wind chill of -7.
But it is a lot warmer than many are dealing with. On the upside the sun is shining though it does little for warming up.

One of my former students moved to Ohio several years ago. The schools were closed...for quite some time. I asked about it, she said each of her boys had a packet of lessons, and when that was completed he had another. If the closure lasted longer the teacher sent the work by internet.

My granddaughters are home from school as they have closed them due to the frigid temps in Ohio. They were home yesterday also and will probably be out until Monday.

It was cold when we were in Florida this week - at least cold for Florida this time of year. Temps at Port Charlotte were in the 40s at night and only mid 50s during the day. Evveryone was g oing around with heavy jackets on. After the cruises we thought staying in Florida would give us some warm weather before we came back to Texas. LOL! And Texas has been in high 20s at night and 40s-50s in daytime. BRRRR!

Ed's cousn we were staying with live in Indiana and temps there have been -45 wid chill and schools and businesses have been closed. They didn't want anyone on the roads. Her daughter said the roads were very slippery.

Michigan, where Ed's sisters live (except his older sister comes here for the winter) have had lots of snow and bad road conditions. Teps are warmer than Indiana but a lot ore snow.

Snowing here this morning. At least it has warmed up a bit. It's 15 right now but going up to 21. Better than yesterday at least we are out of the single digits. The Ohio grandkids are out of school again today.

It is not snowing hard, but steady. Right now it is a covering and supposed to snow all day. Not sure how much they are expecting us to get. I don't believe it will be very much when it's all done.

Just came in from sitting on back deck with Annie. It's 54 but in the sunshine it is warm enough for sitting. Crazy weather we are having - forecast 75 on Mon. Too many things will leaf out and be destroyed by a hard freeze and I know one will be coming. Hope a mild winter isn't foretelling a super hot summer.

agree, Sara. I don't like hot summers here, and they DO happen more often than not.

We are supposed to have rain today, possibly a quarter of an inch.
It is light rain right now!

Darlene,
What are your temperatures like this time of year?

We are heading into the 30's for our high today. It is supposed to warm up this week in the 40's and 50's. I'll take it! I feel like doing more when it warms up a little.

We have cloudiness and sun right now at 58 degrees right now, it rained some yesterday. Not to bad, I was expecting worse. Up where the fires were they were having alerts about flash flooding, it just keeps on going up there. Poor people.

Hugs

Yes Marilyn. Apparently he did not see his shadow so we are in for an early Spring.

The polar vortex is loosening it's grip this week. We are a high of 48 with a real feel of 54 today. We will hit 61 by Thursday. I am looking forward to it. Though it will bring rain.
It will feel good to have those warmer temps though.
