We were under flash flood warnings all night long. Bad lightening, even scared my husband. It is still raining, just not as hard. Now this is weird...My little red feed bucket was within two inches of the top, but the rain guage shows only 4 and 1/4" of rain. They usually measure about the same.

My son just called his dad and told him of a young family that was swept away, in the flooding...on the road they travel to the current job. Thank goodness they did not go today.

Linda and Sara, are y'all ok? Did you get a good rain or damage?? Did you have flooding?

Connie did you feel the ground quaking this morning?

Sara I am so glad you did not have the storms!
Yes that was so tragic.
When my son called his dad, they were still in search mode.
They were swept away about 6am yesterday. The father was found clinging to a tree, but alive. He was transported to the hospital. Later the search team found the car with the moms body inside. On down stream about 400 yards they found the seven year old little boy. Three miles on down stream, they finally found the body of the three year old little sister. So sad! So tragic!
It reminds me of the Wimberly flood that swept the house away with that family inside, several years ago.
Prayers for the daddy. I know he needs them and God's arms around him.

So true Darlene. Stories like these remind me of how fragile life really is. It also reminds me, that even though I try to stay home during storms, some people must go out in it to go to school and work. Prayers for safe keeping for all of us.

One of the bad things about changing seasons. We rarely get gentle Spring rains anymore. Hope you stay safe.

It is cool and a little overcast with the sun showing through a little on occasion.

It looks like the worst of the storm is past and my area wasn't hit as hard as just south of us. It is supposed to clear up by noon. We dodged a bullet with this one!

It has calmed a lot. We got wind and rain. It looks like they may have removed the tornado watch as I can no longer find the alert for it. Just for flooding now. There is still some heading our way in the next hour. Pennsylvania is know for having tornados. At least around here. We've had our share here in NJ too.

I guess I had always thought of Tornado Alley. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc.

There is a new little pony in the horse barn. She came from Kansas. I guess she hitched a ride south! actually my son had someone haul her, so he did not have to go get her.I have no idea how old she is, maybe a year or a bit more. She still has her winter coat and is terrified of me! I asked my son what her name is. It is rare if they go by and the registered name so she will be Nellie. Reminds me of the late 1800s. She is not colored like the others. Looks like she might be a palamino...time will tell. Yesterday I noticed a horse who was nodding his head to the beat of a country song on the radio. It was Cody! I love him. He makes me smile. Silly horse!!!

I always thought Ohio valley was part of tornado alley. That's what they call it where my daughter lives. May depend on where you are. They get a lot of warnings there and the tornado sirens go off a lot in the summertime there.

You are probably right, Denise. I seem to remember one in perhaps Illinois when I was about ten. A lady described the hot summer like afternoon, the skies darkened, and suddenly there it was. I remember she said a fence post from someone's fence was driven into a telephone pole. That impressed me. When I was a kid the tornado struck and destroyed much of Waco, Texas. Everyone at church was talking about it. Some church members had kids in college at Baylor University. They were relieved when the university said all were ok.
May is or has always been a bad month for tornados in Texas.
They say it is surreal when you see the landscape after an EF5. Nothing is left. I have only seen one place like that...Hermeleigh, Texas just 15 miles from where I grew up. Mother drove us out to look at it, or what was left. It was spooky, almost frightening. The only thing left were the little twisted trunks of hundreds of mesquite trees. No tops, no homes, no vehicles, no tractors, no cotton trailers, no cows! Nothing! Thankfully it happened right after five pm.So most people are not at home yet.
