Marlee, please be safe. Sunday morning I texted my grand daughter and asked if they were coming home that day. They were visiting his mom in Shreveport. I told her it had rained all night leaving us with almost four inches of blessing rain...to which she responded, " dang, it's sunny and warm here! ". So until it is sunny and warm again read a book, cut and paste, take naps, etc.

Rain here for the last 5 days. One servere thunderstorm. Lightening struck a 75 year old tree on my brothers land. Split the tree. He lives 2 acres from me. I'm excited about our 7 day forecast. I can go outside again for a bit!! prayers for all the flooded areas!

Big fierce thunderstorms are here and it is pouring outside. Weather says this will all go on until early am hours. No more rainless days around here lately!! These are typical summer showers with lots of lightening and thunder with brief periods of downpours.

That was one of the things I did not like about living in Florida Winnie. The storms every afternoon at 2 pm. We could've set our watches by them.

I remember the year I got married...1962. Snyder Texas! It rained every single afternoon throughout the month of June, we married on June 30th. The afternoon heating would set off the showers and gully washers. They paved our street. My mother had new carpet in her living room. One night my daddy who was 6'3" tall was riding in a car with the crew on their way up northwest of Snyder to their drilling rig site. ((Remember back in the day before air conditioners came on cars? You always had the Windows down in summer time.)) Who ever was driving had an old car. ..I call them round cars. 30s or 40s models. Anyway they were driving along in the rain and suddenly the car began to fill with water...of course it stopped running too...because they had driven into a buffalo wallow! All five guys got out but daddy said the water was chest high on him, so at least he did not have to swim out like the short guys.

The bad thunderstorms missed us last night. We are supposed to have storms all week until Friday. This rain does keep us from having those hot 90 degree days which I'm thankfulfor.

We had almost an inch of blessing rain Sunday night or Monday morning. Then I got up this morning to the rising Sun and rumbles of thunder in the distance. My phone shows that the police issued a warning. It looks as if the worst of it may slip to the south of us.
Hay...My son was planning to cut his hay yesterday...

The amounts of rain have not been helpful to the farmers this year.

our neighbor, who has cows... cut his hay Friday, and that night too. Tractor ran until after midnight. Then Saturday he was up raking it and almost immediately baling it. They had two tractors running. Cows may eat moldy hay...but horses will not! So it takes a few days to get the hay cut, raked a couple of times and then rolled up. Humidity is a problem too. In fact I have seen my son check the cut hay, and stop the tractors when the air became too humid. And with water standing in the fields...It is not looking good.

Haying and weather are a tricky thing. I know back home sometimes they would be waiting for the hay to be ready and then it would rain and mess everything up. I never liked green chopping because I couldn't stand the sickly sweet smell of the silage but the cows loved it.

Did I already mention , I AM OVER SUMMER!!! Man the oppressive heat and humidity is the pits. The forecast is the same everyday; low 90s, 50% chance of rain. Everything is soggy. The weeds grow so quickly that if you don't get after them they threaten to come inside and take over your front porch!

You are so right about the weeds. Since my neighbor gave me a book about plants in our area of Texas, I'm trying to learn which ones are good weeds and which ones are not. Now I just need to find a book with good photos of the edible flowers and weeds we are growing.

A tornado just hit north of Lone Oak, the city I live in. There has been rotation in the clouds right in front of me, but nothing happening where We are right now. My daughter-in-law just got home from Greenville Texas where there was some wind damage and she said it rained pretty hard. She said that the sirens were going off in Lone Oak but I could not hear them at my house. And I am only 2 1/2 miles from town. They’re still predicting more rain coming our way tonight.

We were put in a tornado watch about three o'clock. It lasts till midnight. It is rumbling thunder right now. Lightening is flashing. I hope my son is in his house.

We had a thunderstorm the other day. Didn't last long but it poured. Yesterday I realized June is the beginning of Hurricane Season. Right now it is so muggy here and hot. But that is the norm here. Hope everyone else is safe from whatever the weather you are having. Sometimes it can sneak up on you.

All we got right at my house so far is a little wind. It is thundering now, and it looks like we will get a little rain tonight. My DIL was on her way home with one of my grandsons and was just in front of the tornado that hit Greenille. Greenville, just 16 miles north of me, has extensive damages in the downtown area, and many of the buildings there are older. One church has extensive damages.

Sara - Please stay safe - the storms have been and are heading your way.

Marilyn - I hope you don't get any of the bad weather.

Yesterday the heat index was 108.

The storms passed through Paris in two rounds. The first was thunder n/ lightening with heavy rain. The second around 9p.m. brought the same with some hail. I thought I heard it on my carport's metal roof but when I looked I didn't see anything. Sad about the tornado hitting Greenville and Linda that's so close to you.
