Marlee, how far are you from Leesville? My husband's cousin and his wife live there. We went back to visit them 2 years ago...our first trip to Lousiana.

We have wind and sun.until tomorrow, when three more sticky days, with heat, humidity and storms are forecast.
My son and his friend got the hay rolled up that was cut Tuesday. They had three small fields to cut , rake and roll up. Maybe 10 acres worth. But the good news is he has a bit to feed. Minus the two he put out yesterday. Next week, hopefully after Wednesday, he can cut the rest.

Our sun did not last. It was so cloudy all day long. We even had a shower! It looked like winter.

It was beautiful today here up to about 20minutes ago.
I was sitting watching A movie and things started rocking and rocking and rocking! We had a 5.5 earthquake. All is well!

When I saw that on the USGS map...I prayed that you were safe.
After yesterday's quakes off the Oregon coast...
I think there was a smaller one, perhaps a 3.?? later on.

Put an ice cube on your head!

Sara, I just looked at the radar and it sure looked like you were getting some blessing rain, like we are also getting. Connie it looks like you may be blessed too.
Darlene, I'm praying that you are safe. Indonesia has really had a lot of big quakes some in the ocean but several on land. Praying for those folks.

Yesterday and today have been punishing hot and HOT!!! Humid too with heat index well above 100. It doesn't look like much will change except to add back more rain later this week and weekend. Same ole, same ole!

Oh Winnie those temps, ugh! I lived in the house 24/7 in the summer when we lived there. It was just too hot and steamy.

Winnie perhaps you could go to Iowa with Marlene Burns in the summer time. She stays in Florida during the winter. I guess that may be the best of both places.

88 here today and hitting 90 at home. I am so very grateful for air conditioners. Though I know people made it through life without them, I am thankful we have them as an option.

Me too! I'm fact ours has been on for about a month now. Even my car as is finally working! We would be miserable without air conditioning. I can tolerate the afternoon hours, but it is next to impossible to sleep when it is hot, and cooking and eating...forget it!

I guess we were young, but my grandma was old, I don't know how she did it! I think when I stop and reflect, it makes my heart ache to think about how hard their lives were.

Now onto today's weather. My son has sat on that tractor all day long going around and around that big field. Then about thirty minutes ago we had a downpour that lasted a good fifteen minutes. Thank goodness he still has one field standing. It is such a slow process to rake, then rake again. Sometimes I've seen them take four times when the hay gets rained on. We are not supposed to be wet this week... The guesser predicted sunny days all week long. Oh well my squash and tomatoes will be happy. I noticed today that I have tiny baby black eyed peas! Yea! My runner beans are blooming too. We have three more cucumbers to pick soon.

Well we are into July!
After two rains on the field of hay, lots of stress, lots of tractor time my son has a few over 100 bales of hay, rolls. Praise God. There is still the largest field that needs to be cut...but rain is in the forecast.
The almanac says July may be a bit cooler than usual.
Do you know that the sweetest cantaloupe grow around Pecos Texas. They are smaller than the ones in the stores now. Several years ago the harvest was late...because the weather was not not enough. Two years ago that same thing happened here but with hay. Even tho my son had fertilized, the grass just sat there. It was not warm enough to make it grow and get thick. In years past it was pretty common to get four cuttings each year, but now I guess we hope for three and sometimes we only get two. That is not good, because then the farmers must buy hay...if they can find any to buy.

It really was windy today with blue skies and billowy clouds really zooming by, but very pretty to watch.
This is what The Sky was like tonight out my front window. It was really red!

Have a good day tomorrow!

We heard that all the time when we were in the Navy. Of course I first heard when I was a kid and my dad would say it.
