We were cloudy most of yesterday and it looks that way for today. I finally saw the eye of the hurricane late last night. It was in East Texas. Boy Indonesia is having some big quakes. I looked about an hour ago and they had experienced a 7.3 as well as a bunch of gives etc. Prayers for those folks.

All the rain from Barry is staying east of Paris but we are enjoying cooler temps. It's 12:22p.m. and it's only 76. I have tied back my drapes and let the outside in. No sunshine but it's good to be able to see outside. Annie's enjoying hunting squirrels and other critters that cross into her backyard.

It's 67 degrees here this morning. Feels so good but won't last. The high temp is to be 87 with 90 percent humidity. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have low humidity? Then it wouldn't be so difficult to deal with the heat.
So now is the time to get everything done in the morning here.

The humidity is so sticky, makes my head sweat,it makes it hard to breathe. Yes chores out doors must be done in the mornings.
I grew up in western Texas where it was often 115° on a summer afternoon, but when the sun went down...you needed a jacket, if you were sitting outside. It was cool and dry.

So glad it's cooler.80s. Our power went out at 4 am. No lgw crew available to get to us yet. Pretty sure a tree is down somewhere on the lines. So far no flooding here where We are.

I have been watching the radar, and saw the rains in your neck of the woods. I hope they can restore your power quickly.

Hey, got power and internet back. No serious problems or flooding. A 75 year old tree fell as usual, when we have strong winds out here in the country. The rain came in downpours but then stopped for hours which kept the flooding back.

Thanks Darlene, I hate to see any trees fall. There are about 4 miles of 75 year old trees lining the road we live off of. The county keeps the limbs trimmed. You can see the roots of the trees along the road side coming out of the ditches. The wind storms almost always take one down or a limb. The limbs are huge!! During the ice storm of 92 or 94. I forget what year. The winter Olympics were on that year. We lost a lot of trees. You could hear the big limbs break and crash to the ground.

We had the most beautiful lane when we first came here. Big trees on both sides grew and linked limbs high above our heads...1/4 mile of delightful shade. Then one fell across the lane and no one could leave...until my son got his chain saw out and went to work. Then both neighbors decided to build new fences, and most of the beautiful trees were pushed down, piled and burned. But as is always the case, God and his gardening crew went to work, and now the trees are growing again.

It is such a loud sound when the trees fall. The redwood trees really echo when they do fall, and they are something because they have nothing root.

Well have a good night

Hugs and I love you all.

Darlene, I did not know that redwood trees, huge trees have wee roots. What keeps them standing tall? Haven't they bored through some to make roads?

Connie,
I hate when trees fall. Ever since the tree came down on Jess' trailer I don't like when the winds blow strong. Makes me very nervous. Glad you didn't have to go too long without power. It's rough especially in the heat of summer.
It is warm here at 90 degrees and the heat index today is 109. Definitely summer. Glad the rain brought you cooler temps to enjoy.
Glad to hear you didn't get much from Barry girls!

We only have one mode down here: Hot, Humid, showers. Some days no rain, so the temp soars up to upper 90s. Repeat. Repeat.

Connie and Winnie, thinking of fall keeps me going. The end result today was a heat index of 114. I stayed inside as much as possible. Don't want to complain because come winter I'll be wishing for warmth. If course not this hot!
