Connie, I hope you are keeping cool.
We had thunderstorms last night and lost power but only for a couple minutes. Cooled it down but it's heating up again this morning. Was already hot at 7 when I went out to take care of the hens.
We under a heat advisory from Friday through Sunday. Heat indexes reaching 110 plus in Sunday.

Hi of 93 today - no weather alert for us so the heat index won't get to 105. Still a good day to be indoors after the sun gets high in the sky.

I just came inside after watering my wee garden. I gave some plants liquid nutrition, after the first water then went back the third time to lightly water the nutrition into the soil. I
Since part of the family is far away, my son and Bay are going to a visitation for a friend's mom who passed away. So we may have leftovers for lunch. It is hot! For sure!
My husband and son killed a smaller copperhead in the flower Bed one day last week. Then I was feeding and watering chickens Thursday evening...I was stopped by the strong smell of fresh doggy poop! No dogs were here! I knew what that meant. So while ago as I was about to move two wire panels and use them as trellises for squash and tomatoes...I smelled that same smell...It sent me scurrying into the house...later! If I could have my way, there would be no snakes around me at all.

We've been under a heat advisory for over a week now. Thunderstorms came through but we only got wind and rumbles. Supposed to have more storms tonight.

This has been an amazing cold front...in July. We did not get any rain, which means I must get some water on my peas and okra. We did have the most pleasant temps late yesterday. I love It. Thank you God.

Marilyn I watched Channel 12 news out of Sherman yesterday and the weatherman said this good of a cold front in July happens only every 5 o5 10 years. Yes, it is a blessing. 67 now and hi of 87 - I'll take those temps any day in July.

And God is good to us always. Yesterday when we were leaving Walmart, it was so hot and humid, mid afternoon...My hubby said that we must endure the not temps in order to enjoy autumn.I guess he is right.

We had a storm go through Monday night. We didn't get anything but a little period of gusty wind and some sprinkles. Yesterday was overcast and in the 70s. The rest of the week it is supposed be in the low to mid 80s. Then heating up again. Enjoying it while we can.

Connie that sounds like a big storm! I have asked God for rain, but so far we are hot with powder kaliche and sand that is so deep and loose, making it difficult for old me to walk through. So I take my stick! Perfect hay weather! They began cutting today.

Darlene, kaliche is crushed rock. Ours is white with sparkles when it is first put down. As we drive on it the rocks are worn down by the tires. When it rains and we drive on it the kaliche gets hard again almost like cement as it dries.
However when we have a long dry spell the dust from the kalich e just fogs up behind your car as you drive along. Soon every tree and plant has white leaves. If you meet another car well
I usually either stop or drive very slow because you cannot see. Then you also need a new air filter.

So did you get some rain, Darlene??? Those look like rain clouds, sort of.
Kaliche is readily available around here.
When my brother lived in Orange and Baytown, ,,(upper Texas coast)...North East of Houston...I noticed they used crushed and tiny sea shells as their road bases.
In some areas they use a crushed rock that is brown.
I guess they use whatever is readily available for country roads. Remember I don't live in a concrete jungle.

Before we get off the subject of roads I'll tell you about a company here in Paris who used to buy crushed glass from the auto glass plant where I worked before I retired. The plant was in Sherman - 100 miles west of Paris and during manufacturing of auto windows they produced huge mounds of crushed glass. The Paris company bought the glass by the dump truck load and mixed it in with their paving material. Have no idea what they are using now since the auto glass plant shut down in early 2000.

Now back to the weather - it's HOT - that's all I'm going to say about it.

I don’t live in a concrete jungle either, I wouldn’t like that much. That is dairy country over where those clouds were. I like country and trees and cows from a distance.
Those clouds blew away, they were so intense with the bright sun I had to try to get a picture, this iPad isn’t easy to get good pictures with.
Well have a good day.

Hugs

Sara it is hot! It is already 86 on its way to 98 or higher by 4 pm. I have been working outside since 7:30 am. Now the tubs have been fed a nice serving of dry horse manure and lots of water. The okra and black eyed peas were also fed and watered. I planted some acorn squash and ripped out my dying zinnias. I surely did hate to see them go. Of course I cut off the dry blooms and will save the seeds so I can hopefully grow more next year. Our second cantaloupe is almost ready to harvest.
My pumpkin seed have come up. Now I must give them drinks each evening. Actually the packages said they would come up in ten days. All but one variety were up in four days.
