So after lunch I went to my car, got in and put the key in it. Guess what!!! It would not start! So I took my walking stick and walked down hill to the barn where I scraped the alley, watered the horses, cleared the algae off the trough and filled it up too!
Did you notice I said I walked downhill to get to the barn??? That can only mean one thing...I had to walk back uphill to get home, in 97° heat! Boy was that a hard walk! Thankfully the back door was not locked so Tillie and I came into the cool house that way. Both dog water bowls were empty and she was thirsty. So was I! Water and a glass of Orange juice hit the spot. Now I get some rest time.

Marilyn, Walking up-hill is no longer any fun. Hope today goes better for you. It's 80 this morning but pleasant enough that Annie and I sat on the sideporch. I didn't take time to make my morning tea so I drank iced water. From the time my tea would have made and I got back to the porch it would have been to hot to be outside. That's how quick it goes from pleasant to too hot around 8a.m. Maybe tomorrow I will wake up earlier and have iced tea on the sideporch.

Sara, you are so right about the heat. Temperatures just rise so quickly right now. The thing that surprises me is that Arkansas, Missouri and even Washington state, where Debbie Klann lives have all been about 100° recently! I believe Arkansas was cooler yesterday! I continue to pray that God will see how dry and parched the land is becoming. This hay cutting will be the last one, unless we get a really good rain.
The wreather patterns are changing!

Oh Marilyn! walking uphill in that heat! Bless Your heart!!
Sara is right, it gets hot quick, no time to waste in the early mornings!!
We had rain yesterday morning and a thunderstorm early am today. So glad it watered my flowers because between the heat,MS and my knees its so hard for me to stand on uneven ground, makes my knees hurt later on, for certain my replacement knee!

This winter I plan to put some drip lines in my raised beds. This dragging a hose around is the pits! I need to study the sun and shade from the house and trees, so I can move my tubs to better places, so they might produce more veggies next year.

It has been quite nice here lately with our temps in the low to mid 80"s. I am looking forward to fall weather though.

Denise those temps sound devine. I was out watering early this morning. In the shade the breeze was so pleasant. It made me wish for autumn. Sunshine and a cool breeze!

Sweet photo Connie! Look at all those black-eyed susans! Lily June is growing so quickly. She's a sweet little flower.

I don't know how you handle those temperatures Marilyn.

Wow you all are sure having a lot of heat. I talked to my oldest daughter and her fiancé who lives in New Mexico lost his cellphone connection because they had a fast monsoon go through the area knocking down their receiver in that area. My daughter who is marrying him next Friday is thinking very hard about getting a landline as well as keeping her cell phone.
He is picking her up from Fresno on Tuesday. I will be so glad to get her out of down there. She has a lot of health issues there.
It’s prettier there anyway.

Lily June I think is everyones joy, I think Connie. She is just adorable!
Have a good night.

Love you all!

Connie, I get these emails from NOAA ... Several times each day right now...Excessive heat warnings!!! I'm ready for some rain, I'm ready to smell God's perfume...the first rain drops that touch the parched earth! I love that smell. Heat indexes of 110-115 are not fun. My son has a job...a remodel to do that is over an hour away...he has to start it soon. Hopefully he will wait until Wednesday. I think that is when we will be a few degrees cooler.
Good news is I think all of the hay is rolled up, finally.

My goodness I don't know how you girls get through those temps!
It has been much cooler here. In the 80's but very little humidity.
Today we had some showers which also keep the temperatures down.

Marilyn it got to 102 yesterday with heat index of 116. Way to hot for me & Annie.

Woke to thunder at 3:30a.m. and rain. Got up at 4:30 and still raining though on the light side. Should be a wee bit cooler today but the humidity will be high. Hope it rained enough I don't have to water.

That is just too hot girls!!
We had rain early this morning and most of this morning. It has stopped but still overcast. Keeping it cool here though.
I am thinking Fall these days. It is supposed to warm up again on Sunday and Monday this coming week.

I would absolutely melt at that temp Sara, it was warm last night and it was weird, at about 2pm we had thunder one time. That was all.
No more no rain, weird!

Sara, if we can hold on for the rest of this week and next...Then perhaps things will improve..
Our temps continued up, but God gave us cloud cover now and then. I discovered years ago that when I am in the shade of our big trees it is considerably cooler than when I am out in the open.
I asked my son if he would park his big blue trash trailer in our driveway. My intention is to throw away a bunch of mess...of course I have not even begun to bag any of it up...but since I will be inside trying to be cool, tomorrow will be a good day to begin. Now if I can just stay focused.

Thank you Winnie for the cute little welcoming card.
We've been cooking here but it is supposed to be cooler today -- 106 compared to 108 yesterday. I don't think I'll feel the difference. I've not got much done; staying inside in front of the A/C embroidering and working on my bibliophile badge (that sounds more energetic than just reading). Summer is my least favorite month; heat makes me sick and I miss outdoor activities.

Judith, staying inside in that heat and reading or embroidering sounds like a GREAT plan! Relaxing, too!
