I was just checking our weather for the rest of August and it looks like after today we won't be having anything higher than low 80s. Of course that can always change. I am going to enjoy it when it gets here though.

97 today; heading back to the 100s for the weekend. The weather is perverse -- in the summer it seems to be hotter on the weekends and in the winter you can count on rain . It used to drive me crazy when I was working and only had weekends for a getaway. It's nice to be retired and not have to worry about weekend plans being ruined by the weather. Every day is Saturday!

It was up to 98°, so muggy this afternoon when I decided to try once more to put some more stuff in the trash trailer. Then I was on the porch of my sewing house when the NORTH wind began to blow, the sky was growing darker and little pecans and leaves began to hit the tin roof. Next my phone went off due to a lightening warning. No rain tho. The temperature dropped to 76 in about 15 minutes! My husband came home, as did the others in the crew. Now it is thundering. I continue to pray for rain. This is so nice! A real August Norther!!! I even took pictures of the sky.

Love that snapshot of your farm, Marilyn!! Of course I saw the red tractor immediately too!! This reminders me of a postcard of a farm with the windmill and tractor and long tree lined lane. You and family have a little paradise out there!!

Marilyn, Beautiful photos.

We are having such beautiful weather that I can hardly believe it. Going to do a little freshening up on the porch.

When we moved here in 1992 my son bought that old tractor from the old man who had owned the property. Of course after a few years my son bought a new tractor...it is showing some wear now, which is normal when it gets used on a daily basis. The old windmill is something I love! The house in the distance is my son and his family's home. He built it when Had was three, she is 19 now.
When we moved here, we rarely heard a truck over on the highway which is almost two miles away and never heard a siren. That has changed. But the fact that we live on a lane with only one neighbor other than our son, is nice. I have enjoyed living here, because we are five miles from town. It is a pretty place! Thank you ladies.

We got enough rain to say it rained but not what we need. Good thing I watered yesterday morning. With all the rain and dark days we had back in the spring we are now officially back into a drought.

It's is cool here this morning and a high of 75 today. One of the things I love about being at little bit in the north. Well more the northern part of the mid atlantic. Just makes me all the more anxious for fall. I know Septemper and October can still bring warm temperatures.

I know those warm temps can come back but hopefully we are done with the humidity.

Well it was 100 hot degrees when I was at the horse barn. It took forever today. The horses were thirsty because everyone of them had emptied both buckets, but I had to rinse each one out . Of course I filled the trough too. Then tried to clean up the alleys and fed the dogs. At lunch my son said some horses had made a hole in one of the new orange water troughs, by stepping into it. He tried to repair it with some really wide tape he uses. He was disappointed that the trough was not thick enough to last longer than a month. He said the horses were trying to be cool. I told him I had been spraying some of his barn horses to help them cool off. Tomorrow may be the hottest day of the year 102-105 with heat indexes as high as 115°. Not much fun. It would have been nice to have a good breeze Wade and Julie were moving to I d bales off the hay fields, in fact they are still at it. It has taken all afternoon. She said she did not mind because she would have the a/c on. Wades tractor has a top but is not enclosed, so he was pretty warm.

I have waited, and waited for this special day. It is 68 glorious degrees! It has rained the whole day long! Some times it is a drizzle and sometimes it comes with thunder, lightening and pouring rain. What a blessing. Thank you God.

It is nice and cool here. Actually had to put on long pants and long sleeves this morning. The only thing I don't like is that with the cool temps it is overcast. So dark, dreary and depression. I'm looking forward to nice fall days when we will have cool temps AND sunshine.

We are watching Tropical storm Dorian to see if it actually makes it to Florida the end of this coming weekend. Right now, it looks like a possibility but there are several days to actually see what happens. Labor Day weekend always comes during the peak of our hurricane season so Dorian is right on schedule.I hate it when hurricanes troll the Caribbean waters like sharks!

I had heard a weather person say that the sand storms coming of the African coast were interfering with the hurricanes. Is that true???

Watching closely Tropical storm Dorian. I looks like it will hit the east coast of Florida Sunday or Monday. It is that time of year and so down here, we just watch and pray. I am so not ready for another bad strike like two years ago with Hurricane Irma.
