If it follows the path they have now it looks like my brothers will be getting lots of rain. They aren't on the east coast so they won't get hit hardest. It does look like it is heading directly for the mid east coast of Florida.

We are pretty much in the direct path of Hurricane Dorian. Gainesville is about 2 hours inland from the Atlantic which is not far from where the winds can still be high and the rains will be heavy. The state has now been declared in a state of emergency so I am off today to stock up on some basics for possible no power for several days. Oh man, I hate this mess!!

Winnie, So sorry you have to go through this. Especially since I think I remember you saying it was already quite wet there. Please keep us updated when you can. Of course your safety is the #1 priority!

Looks like it is going to hit land a little south of mid east coast Florida but the whole state is going to get hammered by the winds and rain. But once it starts to go across land that hopefully will slow the force. It is expected to be a category 4 but the time it hits. So not good at all. Praying it will not be as bad as they expect it to be. Please do whatever you need to in order to be safe Winnie.

So glad to see they expect Dorian to take a turn to the east and away from Florida.

Today will be warm at 84 and tomorrow at 90 but after that it is supposed to be in the 60s and 70s for our highs. I'm at definitely looking forward to that!

I'm glad God turned the storm.
We are at 92°, but it is only 1:20pm. I have to go outside and work, cleaning the porch. I sure hope I do not find a snake of any kind. One corner is rather junky, so I will be very careful.
I took cold meds Sunday night, then I took two long naps yesterday and slept all night too. The cold is gone before it got going...but I was really dragging Sunday afternoon.
So this morning early I was outside, picking peas, moving a cage to put my brood y mommy in. She has been so faithful to sit on her eggs, and she did not let the other hens add to the seven eggs I marked. So she had two cute babies this morning. I gave them feed and water, put a tarp on top of the cage to provide shade.
Since we had company last night, I needed to water all the chickens this morning anyway.
The trash had to go down the lane, the mail had to be brought back and then I spent an hour with the horses. Watering did not take that long but cleaning up the mess was a chore. I wonder why cow cubes still come in paper bags??? Horse, pig, chicken, and goat feeds all come in plastic bags! That was why it took time...chasing those rolling cow cubes. Some how both ends of the bag had ripped open...Now you think that wasn't fun, trying to pick up a heavy bag to pour it into two buckets without spilling a bunch. Let's just say I was not very successful...this chasing them down with a broom and snow shovel! Then I moved 350# of horse feed out of the alley, on to the ledge that is 3" higher than the alley. Why? ?? Because I hate to see that mess, and after picking up the strings and empty bags, I blew the alley out twice. For some reason the feed bits and hay scraps, mixed with dirt, acts like it is leaving but turns around to hide behind me. Well today I got rid of it. My son lays the empty feed bags out in a neat stack. He usually puts the strings in one bag.
Problem is he forgets to put the chain up to keep the two year olds out of the barn. Two year olds are curious. I know that thirty minutes outside is about all I need but.........oh well I have to do it so I will see y'all later.

Today it will feel more fall-ish. We are getting a bit of rain and a high of 69. Yay! No need for the a.c.

Today was beautiful even though it was overcast and rainy. A typical fall day for us. I wish these temps would stay around but I know they won't last.

Oh Connie, I'm sorry your temps are going up once again.
When I passed the big log flat bed trailer, on the way back from my barn chores today...I stopped to tell Buddy Bear that we are supposed to be around 91-93 next week. He has dug three holes under that trailer. They are big, because he is so big, and deep. I know he is so miserable because of his mane and thick coat. The other two big dogs bags short hair.

I don't have a birdbath but do keep water for Annie in two places - on back deck and side porch. The birds and squirrels drink there too.

Oh I wish it wasn't going to be so hot for you ladies! It is warmish here but there is a beautiful breeze. It was downright chilly last night. Slept with a quilt on the bed! No fan no a.c.nor today either.

Denise, right now at 12:48 it's 97 feels like 105.

Enjoy your cooler days and nights. We'll be there in time.

I wasn't going to write about Pearl's adventures anymore but this morning found me at my laptop starting another story. Pearl standing on her front porch watching the shadows go across her yard and knowing with the coming fall the weather will be cooler and with cooler weather comes a murder or two.

Winnie I think it would take a blue norther to make a dent in our heat.

It is 95° here at 3:30pm. It is supposed to rise to 96°. When I came in from the barn I told my husband I was wet with sweat from the top of my head to my feet. Yesterday was worse due to no breeze at all. One more day! Then next week they say our high Monday will be 91, Tues. And Wed. 89, Thurs. Fri. And Sat. 91 and next Sunday 92. We also have the opportunity to have thunder storms on Wed. I think that sounds amazing. I bought a new chick watered at Wal-Mart this morning. I have a broody hen, one of the buff brahma hens. She is such a sweetheart! She has three babies, but she still has six or seven eggs. She is in a milk crate nest box, that I put into a large dog crate...the kind that are all wire. We wrapped it in hardware cloth long ago...all sides, so the baby chicks are safe. They can come and go through the round holes of the next box, at this point. The hen still sits on her nest but comes out with the babies when I put feed in for them to scratch about and eat. They are so cute. The dogs love to watch them. The only dog I have had to get on to is Scruffy. She barked at the babies and scared the momma the other day. I told my husband she is not allowed to go out there with me ever again. Tillie just stands and watches quietly. Lacey will lie down and watch them. Yesterday I was gathering the eggs when I looked around to see who was behind me...it was Shadow! He had just walked in with the chickens eating the peach peel treat I had brought them. They did not mind him being in their pen and I was so surprised.

Hang in there, ladies -- we've had 100s and 90s for months. Today was 88. It was wonderful! So maybe if the weather is drifting east you will feel some relief soon.

Those Temps are bearable if there is low humidity. We have 79 for a high today I believe. I can hardly believe we are over the high temps yet though. Maybe but I doubt it.
