We got rain early this morning and now some more. Unfortunately, we now have a leak in the hall, just inside the front door. Rain is dripping down from between two of the ceiling boards. This happened before and it was the dormer window in the attic. There is no living space there, just the window. It was fixed before and now it is leaking again. I guess that is one problem with an old house. I have Bunco this afternoon; Ed's project will be to go in the attic, check the leak damages, and put a tarp over the dormer until he can fix it. LOL! Glad he is here.

We are in the midst of an early winter storm. It was 24 when I got up this morning, we have about 14 inches of snow already and the wind is blowing at 40-50 mph. I lost half of an apple tree last night due to all the weight of snow on the branches and leaves. It is my favorite tree but very old, so that has made me sad. Doing chores this morning was brutal, thigh deep drifts to get to the chicken coops and barn to feed my calves. we were chopping silage before this started so at least the blade is on the tractor to clear the yard and driveway. It is a really weird year, I continue to pump water from the sump holes in the basement because of the high water table and it's a blizzard outside. Sure hope my hose doesn't freeze or I will need hip waders down there.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Oh Julie it is so hard to believe there is snow on the ground and a blizzard to boot. When did it start snowing? I am grateful for the cooler temps but certainly not ready for something like you are having. It's not even Halloween yet. As kids we had to wear coats over our costumes and sometimes we would start to get flurries before the night was over but never any amount of snow until November before Thanksgiving. I hope your hose and stuff doesn't freeze up and that you will have days to make the snow melt!

34 this morning so the heat is on but for the next several weeks we'll be on that Texas weather roller coaster. Somedays in the 80s so A/C is on - others in the 40- 50s so it's heat. Not complaining - sure beats days and weeks of 100+.

You win the colder award this morning Sara. We were 38°. But the wind is not gusting!
I could not get warm yesterday.

Marilyn the wind blew here too. To tell the truth wind blows most days here - some days a little harder than others. I'm partial to strong breezes.

More rain is coming but Ed hasn't been able to find where the roof is leaking. He says when it rains next he will go back into the attic to try to locate the leak. We had such strong winds that it could have been the angle the rain was coming in, but I told him I'd hate to leave for almost 3 weeks in December and again for 2 weeks in January and have a leak that ruins the walls or floors if it rains. We had this same spot fixed 2 years ago and had no more problems until yesterday morning. GRRRRR! The trials and tribulations of owning an old old home. Maybe we should sell and buy or build another one?

Linda, my son's new home with a tin roof had an issue with blowing rain. He went up there three times, each time he did what the roofer said he might try. He ended up taking the tin off, putting new underlayment down, New flashing, etc.But he finally stopped the leak. Then they had to bring scaffolding inside the house so he could get up 23' and remove any mold he found. Then he had to use bleach then a new paint job. So a new house can leak too. That was a nightmare. They have not had any more roof issues in the past seven or eight years.

Hmmmmm, we seem stuck on the upper 80s around here and not a drop of rain since last week's unexpected and badly needed day of soaking rain. The mornings are in the upper 60s until about 9 am and then it is back to summer and the AC running.

In the low 50s when we woke up. The heat came on! It reached up to 67 but then we had some rain this afternoon. Not much but it is overcast now though sunny this morning. I hope the rain and clouds go so we can see the full Hunter's Moon tonight.

This morning, I awoke to what I thought was a very bright light, maybe a headlight or a spotlight. It was dark, since it was 5 am. I rushed to the potty. Then I walked around looking out windows...finally some clouds moved and there it was...the moon big and round. Mystery solved...back to sleep!

That sounds beautiful. We were cloudy last night. No pretty Hunter's moon was visible...So I'm glad I saw it yesterday.

Something is weird here.....my calendar says October 15, but it is hot and humid outside and it feels like July or August? Did our state miss something big??? LIKE FALL??? LOL!!!!! After reading here about snow and cooler temps, I feel like I must be living in some sort of time warp. Or maybe this is what it felt like when Alice fell down the rabbit hole while have tea with the Cheshire Cat??!!!

Winnie, perhaps you need to find a new place to live!!! See this is why we like my home state, named Texas...if you don't like the weather, just hang out and it will change directly. At least thAt is what I have always heard. Besides it is so big you can get in your car, drive a few miles, and find different weather. The sun is trying to peep through the clouds. It has sprinkled all day long, but while I was at the barn, with the tin roof...it was amazing...we got a good shower. It is 79° at 2:00.

39 and cloudy today, but at least some of the snow is melting. It is going away slowly, but that is OK, we are having major water issues with our septic system and water in our basement because of all the excess moisture this year. If it keeps up I will have a pool in the family room.

Upper 70s and lower 80s this week. 40s at night. I am unhappy camper; it's my favorite weather. Been camping the last three weekends.

69 for us today. 58 at 8:30 this morning. 100 percent chance of rain. Have to go out in it but taking my trusty umbrella!
Change in the barometric pressure yesterday. I wondered why I had a headache.

We have a high of 60 today. Yay for sweater weather. Very windy last night after the rain. We have a high winds advisory for today too. It was difficult to sleep hearing it last night so I had to put in the earplugs.

The big dogs barked all night long...or at least every time I awoke. (Shadow made the trip up north with his family.) I think they patrol a big big circle, not just our property. My neighbor said they greeted them one night over at their daughters gate. Around the road that is probably almost 3 miles away, but cutting through pastures it is about a mile. Buddy Bear has a lot of critters to protect. Lacey helps him out. Then they sleep almost all day.
We are 45° on our way to 74° this afternoon. Another beauty.
