Thanks katie, I think I want to try it for Zuchinni and make something with tomatoes, maybe curly fries too, I will let you know when I do.

May I suggest doing up zucchini and then adding pesto? Yum!

My beef broth veg soup is a hit. Gave a pint to my sister and she has already asked for another one. Will be making it again for sure.

This morning it's 4 pints of beef stew in the pressure canner.

Canned 3 pints chili this morning. Was out in the cottage by 5:30. Such a pretty morning that has lasted all day long. A perfect fall day.

Today I will be drying pineapple, freezing eggplant, and working with any leftover summer squash. I posted on the main forum, I'm using my last 2016 butternut squash for dinner tonight. I can't believe how well it lasted in the root cellar Erik continues to work on, amazing.

Have 4 pints roast beef with mushrooms in pressure canner. This is the last of the canning until later in the week.

No, Marilyn, it's on a hot plate. I have an electric water bath canner.

Is it easy to regulate the temperature on the hot plate? My stove is gas and the canner is big. I have trouble keeping the temp just right , so I must be right there, adjusting

My pressure canner is 10qts so much smaller than yours and once it comes to pressure the hotplate keeps it there. The hotplate has handles on each side and the canner just fits. A larger canner wouldn't fit. I guess they make larger hotplates.

I like my small pressure canner - it holds 4 jars either qts, pints, or a mix of the two. Perfect for me.

Sara I use an electric water bath canner as well. I love it, it sure makes it easier.

Thanks Sara.I think you are talking about the canner my husband wanted to buy me last Christmas, he did not buy it because I didn't understand and Walmart was out, so he could not show me. Maybe this year. Thanks Julie.

I can't find a 10 qt electric canner - only a 21 qt. Ball FreshTech Canner with a spigot for emptying the water. Is this the one you have? If not, please give me the number for the 10 Qt so I can look it up.

The 10qt is a Fagor Duo Pressure Cooker / Canner - not electric
www.fagoramerica.com
Sold separate is the canning rack which comes with ladle, bubble buster, jar lifter, ring tighter, & funnel. All good quality.

My electric water bath canner is the 21 qt Ball Fresh Tech

I have a smaller pressure cooker - I need to read the manual for it and maybe use it.

Linda, let us know what you find out. When I was looking for a small pressure canner the one I bought was the only one I found and it was the only one of any size that was a cooker and canner.

This is what I am working on this week.

This is the second tote of apples so far. Tomorrow will be day 3 of applesauce. I hate them going to waste, and the neighbors are starting to hide when they see me coming (I either bring apples or zuchinni). The next tree ready is the one that stores well, so I will pick those and keep them throughout the winter. Good thing the grandkids love applesauce, their pantries will all be well stocked.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Wow, Julie, that is a lot of apples! I don't think I'd be hiding if I were your neighbor. Well maybe if you had a zucchini, I have four big ones of my own I need to deal with. LOL

I do have an apple peeler Marilyn. I actually have 2, an electric one that goes on my kitchen aid mixer and a hand crank one. Sure does help get the job done quicker. I had to delay starting this morning. My socks were sticking to the floor, so it was time for a good scrub down. Now back to my regular scheduled program, more apples, ufda.

Making an applesauce raisin cake. The recipe is my grandmothers and is at least 75 years old. I still have the original that she wrote on the back of an envelope all those years ago. I remember well eating this cake often at her kitchen farm table. She always put a brown sugar caramel frosting on it and I look forward to making it every year.
