I am getting my kitchen cleaned out and decluttering it. Putting down new shelf paper and going to work on some breads and pies for the freezer tomorrow.

I need to do that too, but it is in thought.
Have a good evening

I finally made something in the electric pressure cooker - Pork Chops with Apples, Kraut and Gravy. It was delicious! Now I am going to try making applesauce. Looking on line for a recipe.

Denise good job on decluttering your kitchen and baking goodies for the freezer.

Linda your pork chops sound so yummy. Glad you like cooking in your pressure cooker. I have yet to cook in mine - I have only canned in it so far.

Well the baking didn't go as planned and I didn't get far in anything else in there. I only did two cabinets because I kept getting interrupted. Finally gave up. By the time I got back to it it was late and decided to shoot for another day. It's what happens when you have a business run from home I guess.

Today my Yellow Rose Cottage will be busy. Have a tray of store sliced yellow squash and one of zucchini in the dehydrator. Both in the marked down bin for 60 cents a pkg.

After morning tea it'll be mushrooms on sale in slow cooker for broth. Tomorrow can the broth. Mushroom broth is a good base for soups and sauces.

Haven't tried it before but I may try drying the mushrooms from the broth. If they dry successfully I will put them in the blender and make mushroom powder to use as a seasoning and to add to dried blends.

4 pints of mushroom broth in pressure canner. It's a rich brown color - so pleased with the way it turned out.

This week will be a busy one in the kitchen!!! Emi has backed off on her milk consumption, so I have a ton sitting in my fridge!!! I'm hoping to get some chèvre, mozzarella and farmers cheese made, as well as some yogurt and ice cream. I also need to bake zucchini bread and can some beef broth, and get more freezer meals into the freezer. Speaking of the freezer, I need to figure out what else needs to be made so I can empty my freezer more... pretty sure I have more chicken bones to make chicken broth too. We are suppose to be getting a cow the beginning of November, so I need to make sure we have room!!!

Last Sunday I decided that it was high time I cooked! I made a roasted butternut & fennel soup!

I even think the compost bowl looked aesthetically pleasing!

I really enjoyed making this soup. Oh and it taste so yummy. I think I will dial back on the freshly ground pepper next time. I had a bit of a heavy twist! lol

This recipe is from a class I took on Craftsy - Italian Soups from broth to bowl by Dominica Marchetti. I do like the way she goes about preparing her dishes. She makes it look so easy!

Sara, something I learned from one of the classes is if you want to keep your cauliflower white while you are cooking it in water, squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the pot of boiling water and then add the half lemon. It is suppose to keep everything white!

My next recipe will be cauliflower soup!

Oh that looks delicious Carole! The soup not the compost, though it doesn't look bad does it now?

I love anything made with butternut!

Carole your soup looks yummy. I have Dominica Marchetti's Preserving Italy Cookbook. I may check her class out.

Thanks for the tip on keeping cauliflower white.

Chicken legs on sale for .79 lb so I will make slow cooker chicken broth and can it.

Carole - what class are you taking now? Who is it through? I'm missing challenging my brain with college or classes, and am thinking starting in January I might need to take something! Cooking and crafting are my passions!

On Monday I made 2 pounds of mozzarella cheese, a gallon worth of milk of chèvre, a gallon of yogurt, and granola, plus two freezer meals. Yesterday I did nothing (Aly got her cast off and we visited friends). Today I am canning beef broth and will hopefully be making butter and zucchini bread... oh and rendering and freezing tallow (beef and venison). I might have to take tomorrow off in my kitchen, for the break, hahaha. Because Friday is Freezer Meal day!

For the next several days I'll be drying assorted color bell peppers and portabella mushrooms.

Need to take inventory of pantry and see what I need to buy, can, dry, or ferment. Keeping a rotating pantry takes work and planning.

I've not made butternut squash soup, but yours looks good, Carole. A local sandwich shop sometimes serves it in Autumn. I love roasted butternut squash.

I bought myself an enamel Dutch oven ... So I took it out for a spin and made a Red Lentil soup.

I just love it. I made a fresh batch of tea biscuits to go with the soup! Yummy!

What a great lunch it was!

Looks good.

Carole, Your cast iron goodies look sooo good! I have been making artisan bread in my enameled cast iron dutch oven, along with soups, stews, and all sorts of goodies. Love cast iron cooking! I made a Cranberry, Pecan. cinnamon bread that is very yummy and super easy.
Enjoy your fun cookware :)! Happy Fall Y'all
