Shannon you should get your eldest all ready to be a worm farmer next spring. What a great project for your school kids, even the who!e family!
Now Sara, I have had worms, kept them in the utility room for a while. When it got really cold, I decided to turn mine loose in the raised bed...if any had survived! I was so surprised at how big they had grown, how many egg cases were in that small amount of soil.

Sara, if I had known you wanted worms I would have sent you some! We have waggles of red worms, gray worms, and nightcrawlers living in our yard. They really like the compost pile, too.

Not much going on in my kitchen today. I did make a pot of stew for supper. It cooked slow all day and was pretty good by the time JT returned from work.
I have to come up with a dessert for 16 on Saturday. We are invited to a dinner with some old friends. Sort of a reunion for some of us. Haven't decided what I am going to make yet. I have lots of apples, so hoping to come up with something I can make with them.

Or you could make some pumpkin fluff. I made some last weekend, and I thought Julie was going to eat it all. It is really good and simple.

My apple pie is in the oven but it's not the Victory pie from 1940s cookbook. MS fatigue dropped on me so I used the recipe on the instant tapioca box - less ingredients - easier to put together. Like I often say there's always a Plan B in my back pocket.

I bought Braums caramel sauce and chopped walnuts to make the apple caramel sauce to go on top. All I have to do is heat the sauce in the micro-wave and add apples and walnuts.

Thanks Debbie. I didn't make the caramel sauce - I couldn't get the jar opened and I didn't feel like messing with it so I ate my pie with cheddar cheese.

Sara, I think that is A-OK! I was making a dump cake...intended it to be apple, but when I went to look On the shelves all I found was cherry pie filling with real sugar.(I refuse to buy fake sweet in pie filling.) When my husband went to the store I asked him to get some vanilla icecream. So he and Hadlee enjoyed the dessert. He has returned for more dump cake since lunch.

My kitchen is getting a clean out today. Cupboards and refrigerator both need straightened up and scrubbed down. It seems like you go along and then all of the sudden you realize it's time. Not bad this time but I want to keep up with it on a regular basis. Many people make charts and lists for things like this but I am terrible with following those. So I do it when I feel the energy to get it done.

Denise, cleaning out the fridge and pantry always makes me feel good. Enjoy having a spic n/ span kitchen.

This morning I pressured canned 4 pints Lila heirloom dried beans. The other day it was 4 pints large white lima beans. It still gets to 90 (feels like 100) in the afternoons but our mornings are cool so I have enjoyed being out in my Yellow Rose Cottage.

We have had The sweetest morning, cool, with a cool breeze, clouds and the humidity is high. That was the only sour note. I watered pumpkins, put layer crumbles in the youngest birds feeder as well as my laying hens feeder. Then I dug some grass burrs! My hubby dug them last week but I guess he missed a few. Last night a new copper head was caught in The bird netting around the big girls pen.I
Last Friday I cleaned out my bottom cabinets. I need to put some peppermint oil on a tag and rub it on the walls and shelves before I put things in there.

Yesterday was our Apple Pie Sunday, and I got home mid afternoon form being gone all weekend again. We got home from Ireland about midnight on Wednesday and then had to leave again on Friday noon. BUT........I did make an Apple Pie in my mini pie plate to celebrate our Apple Pie Sunday celebration. this year, Heather Neeper, nndairy over at the Forum, and I exchanged a few of our seasonal canned goods we made. One of mine was her wild blackberry ice cream topping. Instead of ice cream, we spooned several spoons of this topping over warm apple pie last night and it was so delicious!! WOW, what a fantastic blend of apples and blackberry flavors. Here is my little pie.

Winnie,
Looks yummy and sounds delicious!

I didn't get everything scrubbed and cleaned. I kept having to sit. I went to the chiropractor this morning but still having sciatic pain. I'm working slow though and getting done as much as I can.

Sara, I have never heard of this variety of beans. What color and shape are they and what way do you best like to eat them?

Wienie it's an heirloom bean from central or south America - I can't remember which. It's kin to the pinto bean with pretty markings. I cooked the beans leftover from canning with EVOO, my dried Italian oregano, S&P, and Tabasco sauce. The beans have thin skins and when cook the texture is velvety. Had enough for two servings. They're good as a pot bean, in soups, casseroles, and baked.
