Today, so far, we got 2 inches of badly needed rain. It has been a month since the last rain and everything was so burned up from the constant high heat everyday. The forecast also says the next two days may bring more showers which will really be an answer to prayer. After the "cold front" passes down our way, it will not produce too much cooling. Temps are still up around 89, but the evenings should be down in upper 60s which will be a welcome too. Anything but the upper 90s will be wonderful!

Glad our Texas Farmgirls are enjoying some flannel shirt weather at last!! Sounds wonderful to me!

We will be warmer today a nd tomorrow. Thur. Back in the 90s. But Friday will feel cold...in the lower 50s.

Making chicken tortilla soup today. Will be good on this cool, overcast day. Maybe will make some fresh baked bread to go with it. Also add brownies to that baking list.

This has been a scrambled day. But at 10:00am I heard geese flying south. So it is already cold up north.

Well we did have the soup but I didn't get the baking done. But the bread is in the pans and rising as I write this. Other things always seems to come up so I moved baking day to today.
Sara, I think it is my favorite soup at present.

Putting taco soup in the crockpot today. With a snow storm raging outside it will be a good day for it. I think I will make a batch of corn muffins to go with it.

That sounds so good for a day like you are having Julie! I love corn muffins, they go so well with soups and stews.

It's finally hit 50 today. I made what I call "clean out the fridge soup" this morning and it sure was good for lunch. Made enough for a couple of days.

Julie, I heard the Dakotas were having snow. We were 40 this morning with a gusty North wind...and let me tell you it felt like winter! Dropping 51 degrees overnight...WOW! I've seen 30° drops many times but not 51°.
Soup sounds so good and perhaps I will fix some for supper. Cornbread also sounds yummy.

I have a busy day planned so I think I will put a pork roast in the crockpot, season it well and add some hard Apple cider to it. Set on low all day will give us some tender, delicious meat for pulled pork sandwiches tonight. I have some pretzel buns in the freezer and I think French fries from my homegrown potatoes and the last of the garden green beans should make a tasty supper with enough left overs for a few days. Yesterday I went out and picked a few more buckets of crab apples off the tree. It was weighted down with snow so I could easily reach them. They were froze solid, but I brought them in and put them right in stock pots to cook. I ran them through the food mill last night and today I will be making cranberry-Apple butter, applesauce, baked applesauce donuts, and apple spice bars. One last hurrah for my apple trees before I leave the rest to the birds and deer.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Julie your kitchen will be so busy today. Your pork roast with hard apple cider will make wonderful sandwiches.

I have 4 pints Christmas lima dried beans in the pressure cooker out in my YRC. Beans leftover from canning are cooking on kitchen stove.
I have another lb of them to can tomorrow.

I would love to have you at my table. Connie, anyone who offers to do dishes gets seconds for dessert.

Gosh Julie, do you take interlopers from Florida? This Farmgirl could use a bit of snow under foot too. Oh to wear a sweater! It is hot and humid again here today. If Connie does the dishes, I will dry everything and sweep the floor!

Now Winnie you keep making offers like that and I could even find a comfy bed for you so you can stay a few days and get out of the heat.

I think we should all head to Julie's! If she's going to cook like that I'll do some barn chores. One of my favorite places to be!
