Some of you are aware that my dad passed away on the 5th of August. We are out of town right now for his funeral services tomorrow.
I know the most difficult part is still to come. Finding at new normal when we get back home. I have his little daschund and his is trying to adjust. He whines for him which just about kills me but I know he is mourning too. I have the big job of going through his things. It will take some time I know.
I will try to come back more often.

Denise, we love you. Perhaps you can give the dog some of your dad's clothes and shoes, slippers to help with his loss. I'm sure he will become attached to the rest of the family in time. I don't have a pet because my husband takes every pet and they are very attached to him. When he is gone they all hang out in the kitchen waiting for his return. They would be like your dad'S dog if something happened to him. Hugs. God bless you.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers Carol.

Marilyn, I gave him my dad's blanket the first day and he laid on it all day but then he would not have anything to do with it after that. So he is becoming very attached to me. He follows me all around. He still sleeps in the front living room that dad used and that's fine because it is right at the bottom of the stairs so if he wanders at night I can hear him.

Good to hear from you Denise. It takes time, so allow yourself that. Just take it one day at a time, or maybe one minute at a time. The pup will adjust as time goes by. You will continue to be in my heart and prayers.
Hugs, Ruth

Thank you all. We had the funeral today and it was a beautiful celebration of his life. So many of our, extended family came to support and encourage us. I just can't tell you what it meant. I am tired as we all are here. We've had a wonderful time together with my brothers my children my brother in law and nephew. We've spent since Thursday together and it's just been so good to spend time together. Hearing the stories and reminiscing. We will head home tomorrow and go our separate ways. I hope to start getting things done that I have been putting off for a very long time. I appreciate each one of you and thank you for your love and support during this hard, sad time. I look forward to being more involved again

Well just when you think things are going to calm down and be alright in your world..BOOM. We arrived home late afternoon yesterday and after a couple hours we got a call my daughter had taken their youngest to the ER and his diagnosis is type 1 diabetes. So not just a new normal for us here but for them as well. He has been doing quite well today with only 1 set back. He is out of PICU and in a regular room but his numbers are still high so they need them to come down about halfway. He seems to be doing well but hates the shots of course.
She really needs rest and I am hoping she gets some tonight.

Prayers for your daughter's family and her son. My cousin's daughter has two children with Type 1 Diabetes and they both have handled it very well - one diagnosed at age 2 and the other at age 1. They are both troupers and I'm sure your grandson will do well, too. Hugs and prayers continue for you and your family.

Marilyn, my grandson is 7 and they live close by. I still have the older 2 and honestly they have kept my mind occupied and have really been helping out here. Though today I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I've been calling places to let them know about dad. Grandson should be coming home today. Don't know for sure.
