Make sure she takes it easy. I wasn't so good after my surgery so ended up being out of work for 7 weeks instead of 6.

This is her 5th surgery in 13 yrs. For the most part the reason for this surgery is due to her not taking time to heal after those surgeries.

Could someone hire a house keeper to go n and do some of the things she should not be doing...sweeping and moping and running the vacuum cleaner...better yet...buy her a round robot like Bay has. T's grand dad bought theirs as a wedding gift. Wow it is so nice and their floors are always clean.

I saw she was going into surgery on Facebook, I am glad she is going to be fine and home soon. I have a card ready to send her on Monday. You take care too Denice!
Linda it’s not easy having your main arm out of service take it slowly.

Thank you Darlene.

Yes it is great news Debbie. I'm thankful everything went well.

Marilyn, I will be going over to help out while she is recuperating at home. No need to hire someone. Plus I'll get to see the grandkids more.
Who by the way are all over the age of 10 and if they keep up with their chores will make it much easier.

Keep us posted on your daughter's recovery and I bet her children will be helpful to their Mom and help you as well. It is good that they are old enough to really understand the need to help out.

I will keep you updated. I know she is just glad to be back home and in some of her clothes instead of a hospital gown.

I can't do any heavy lifting but that won't be what she needs anyway. I may just make meals and take them over. Make sure housework and laundry is getting done. Whatever she needs.

Well Denise, you are a good mom. I'm sure they will take good care of you one day also.
Ha d your grandkids heard any news on their schools, like when school starts?
Had said today that schools around here start August 5th.

I haven't heard anything on the schools here. Local grandkids are homeschooled. Ohio grands are public school but no news on that from them.

We used to start on August 5th. But that was years ago. Now days they have been starting around the 23rd. So this will be an early start. I'm guessing they need to see if the kids fell behind or really excelled while on lockdown.

Unfortunately, too many of the kids will have fallen way behind. For some, whose parents were not so much into home schooling, their summer vacations started in March.

That's true so they may need to be held back. Of course, then they could end up quitting school. It will be interesting.

Most of the ones I know had interaction as a class online. Distance schooling and homeschooling are not the same. Most colleges are wanting home schoolers as they tend to be ahead.

Finally went over last night to see Jess. Took her a big cheery bouquet of flowers. She was really needing rest that first afternoon and night. She is very sore. They want her to walk but no lifting more than 5 lbs for 2 weeks. The walking is to clear the anesthesia from her system and to avoid pneumonia.

Glad to hear that your daughter is home and I am sure she was happy to see her Mama come! Yes, walking is important for keeping the lungs clear and preventing blood clots in the legs too. While it is hard those first days, due to soreness and fatigue, it is important to keep getting up and walking. In the end, it will speed up her recovery if she does that simple effort.

Good to hear your report on your daughter Jess. It should be easier with older children. She cannot even pick up a gallon of milk or lift an iron skillet! She needs to use her lungs and ask her kids to pour a glass of milk for her etc.He

Thanks! The kids are being great helpers! She still has some unspoken prayer requests for her healing so I'd sure appreciate the prayers for that. She is keeping busy with handwork and she does a good amount of walking and breathing exercises.

Yes, thank you!

Judith, BTW 7 weeks is a long time to be out of work. I hope you healed well with no bad effects from that surgery.

Modern medicine! Cut you open, sew you up (or whatever) fill you up with pain meds and send you home so your family can "nurse" you back to health.
When my Mother had the 3 of us she was supposed to spend 14 days in the hospital. When I had my hysterectomy in 1973...I spent 11 days in the hospital. Complications! The doctor was not going to let me go until she knew I was ok, free of any infections. When I had each knee replaced, cancer surgery, and hernia repair I was there five days.
But when my husband had back surgeries, (3),Hernia repair, and broken hip repair he spent very little time in the hospital.
I know I am a much better patient than he is.
I told him that if he required surgery ever again...He would go to somewhere other than home afterwards to do his initial recovery.
