I got the shot and part of it was for the surgeries, I am waiting to hear back from the dental hospital. They have to be first.
Then the knee surgeries. Such fun!

Marilyn -- For some reason some seeds seem to be "seasonable". One year I couldn't find butternut squash seeds anywhere, another year it was crookneck squash. I'm not sure why that happens. Maybe I just look in the wrong places but I even searched the big racks of seeds at the nursery.

I try to remember to save seed but sometimes I forget. Last year our son bought heirloom yellow squash seeds at Tracgor supply...that was all they had. They were knobby. But if picked when small they were good.

We install automatic operators on security gates. Cameras and that sort of thing.
I appreciate the prayers for this to happen. One step closer. We've had a lot of showing of the house dd was in. Praying that goes quickly too.

That's exciting Denise! Perhaps if the business sells first...then perhaps you and JT could rest and go to Ohio for a mini vacation/ search!
Prayers for your success. God bless you both!

Denise that is so exciting.
People will be anxious to find a nice home they can purchase, already built.
My son is a contractor. He and his guys got one new home finished. They are working on the other one. I asked him last week if he has enough lumber and materials to complete it. He does. He had just said the companies who have been manufacturing plywood are quitting. I watch a bunch of homesteading channels. Several have bought little saw mills in order to process the trees into rough sawn lumber for barns and pens, etc. They have been talking about the high prices of lumber for a while. They live all over the US.
And pickups and cars...The man my son spoke to at the Ford house, said they were not expecting to get anymore...in the foreseeable future. Both the Chevy and Dodge dealers have slim picking on their lots.
So when you get to your destination, I certainly hope you can find the home you like for a reasonable price...and it does not have to have a remodel. At least not this year.

Denise -- I don't blame you a bit. Moving is stressful enough with out adding remodeling to it.

Judith that was one of the first things on our list of do not buy if..
When we bought our first house we were young and didn't mind but as we went from that one to the next and until here we have gradually had unfinished projects and we are now getting those worked on to sell. Not having that anymore. They've all been diy.

Denise, how exciting that selling your business and daughter’s house is moving in a very positive direction so quickly!! You might be looking for your new home and getting ready to move before Summer hits! I am so happy to heat that everything is moving along and it must be a relief to you as well. Keep us posted and I hope good things happen soon!

Thank you Winnie we are definitely hoping by summer to be there. Hoping our house doesn't take long to sell either. We hope the buyers of the rental property will be great neighbors to the ones already there. It is a small town and the people there are wonderful.

Denise -- I agree --It's just as important to have a list of things you do not want as it is to have a list of things you do want. We get wiser as we get older. I even have a list of things I do not want to learn; chainsaw is at the top of the list.

LOL! My husband LOVES chainsaw - but not for me, either. We are going to be taking down/out two trees. I'm trying to get him to have them done. Don't want a 73 YO falling out of the trees.

Mine has three chainsaws and is talking about getting another one. They must be like sewing machines; you can't have too many. We have several trees here at home to be removed and he is getting someone else to do it, but he is still cutting up trees that need to be removed up in the hills. I guess it's more fun somewhere else.

Chainsaws and weed eaters! When we were young, about 30, we moved to the boonies and heated with wood. I learned to use a chain saw...now that I'm getting older they seem scary. My son is working on his second or third stihl. Julie has had several weed eaters, that were gas powered. My hubby got one too. It only took him a few times...then off to home depot for a battery operated one. I have a little Worx weed eater that I bought at Wal-Mart for $7. It uses a cord...but for $7, that is ok.
The one piece of farm equipment I never learned to operate is a tractor. When we had our dairy, no one was rolling hay. So we used square bales. ( which I've sometimes wondered why they wwasere called square bales when they are rectangular!??!!!???)
It was several years later when they began rolling hay around here. When Bay was ten, her dad put her on two big pillows, in the drivers seat of their pickup, with the trailer behind...and that is how she learned to drive. Seven year old Had was her look out! We all helped load the pickup, then the trailer with heavy bales of hay. Wade and Julie unloaded it. (Maybe that is why my lower back gives me fits now!???) Just three years later it was time for Had to learn to drive...I was totally amazed to see her hauling those huge round bales...she became an awesome driver well they both became good drivers in the hay fields, and on the dirt lane.

I bought myself a electric weed eater because DH's was gas powered and too heavy for me. I did learn tractor; discing and digging the drain field for the new septic tank, also loading it up with hay bales and distributing to the critters. Both my girls had lots of practice driving that tractor before they were old enough for drivers licenses. When the tractor broke down they loaded the bales in the pickup and used that.
This is a picture of my youngest. I told her it was important to accessorize so she sent me this picture.

Judith, I think it is great that our girls learned to drive at young ages.
I have a question...did your girls marry farmer guys? Or did they marry guys who were city guys, like our Bay?
We love T, but he is certainly not a cowboy! My son is trying to teach him skills, and even some farmer stuff but he is out of his element out here on the farm. Now that Baby J has entered the picture...I think his daddy will have to learn more farmer stuff!
Do your girls live on farms today?

Marilyn - My son married the girl on the neighboring ranch and they now live in the big beautiful house they built in the country. Youngest daughter has homes in Napa and Nevada -- both in the country. None are farmers; son has some cattle for the freezer and an apple orchard. Other daughter married a country boy but they moved to town. I'm afraid DH is the closest this family has to a cowboy but he sold his horse when he moved in with me 26 years ago.
