I actually finished this wool table topper. The pattern is called Seaside Cottage by Primitive Gatherings.

I just love the way it looks on the breakfast nook table.

Cheers!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. It's encouraging to share your work with others especially during these covid times. Don't know about you but my social life (not that it was crazy prior to covid) and practically none existent! lol

Catch you all later! Cheers!

I had intentions to finish my W-2's and 1099's this afternoon but Brad and I decided to get caught up on our Bible in a year reading. A peaceful way to spend a little time this foggy afternoon. There's always tomorrow! I'm also working on finishing my Conversation Heart to mail out this week.

I'm working on finishing up my Conversation Heart, too. A fun creative project. I keep changing my mind and trying different trims and additions. LOL!

I also made several smaller fabric hanging bags and made my own pattern for a larger one to use as a trash bag for the car. (NOTE: The trash bag is my practice one with the pattern I made - I used 2 pieces of leftover iron-on batting and to make sure it stayed together I added rick rack. I didn't realize the pieces were not cut on a straight line until I sewed rickrack along the line on the inside and it was not lined up when I seamed it. Oh, well. LOL!) They are very easy and quick to make.

Trash collector for the car - 8-1/2" across and about 6-1/2" deep at the front.

Smaller bags - about 6-1/2" across and 5" deep at the front

The smaller ones are easy and only take half of a fat quarter of fabric for front and same amount for lining, and one piece of the thin iron-on fleece. I'll let you know where to find the pattern.

Busy at the machine today. Working on my feedsack swap stuff. It feels so good to be sewing again. My machine has been trying to be a vessel with which I am being taught patience. It is an inexpensive one and I think it may be time to trade her in. You get what you pay for and it was just a cheaper one I found online. I need to find some replacement items for my mom's machine and getting it going again. It's an old Singer works well but the belt is missing. Just need to find one online and get it going.

Denise, I hear your frustration. The only machine I have is my Mom's 1957 Singer. While it does work, it desperately needs a good cleaning and oiling. Plus, even with the machine guide book. I struggle with getting the tensions correct. It is really hard to do the zip zag stitch these days. I have looked around locally but nobody works on these old machines anymore. I just don't do enough sewing to justify getting a new machine either. So I keep fiddling with the knobs and testing my patience!! LOL!!

My machine is getting a workout as Leslie and I are working with the girls to make little girls dresses for Africa and Haiti. The girls are earning hours toward their AHG (American Heritage Girls) badges.

My daughter has the dresses at her house. They are done after the pattern of the pillowcase dresses. But we used fabric from my enormous stash instead. We cut them the same as a pillowcase with armholes cut out. We stitched the side seams, hem and armholes and then there is a casing in the top front and top back. No shoulder seams. We put ribbon through the casings and tied at the shoulders. We embellished with ribbon and lace across the top. They turned out cute and we managed to do 20 dresses in a few hours on Friday and Saturday. She will drop them at the library where they will ship all the ones they collect. We had to do simple as those receiving them don't have the luxury of washers and dryers.
It was a fun project for us and the girls. It has helped get me back in the swing of sewing again. Quite a while since I've been at the machine.

Here a few pictures I took of a couple and stack we ended up with. We had enough of the blue flowered the we made 12 with that material and embellished with lace and navy ribbon. I may do some on my own and have them ready to send the next time. So quick and easy. And for a good cause.
