Count me in on someone who loves Peanuts too!! I just love all the friends and their personalities. One of my favorites is Peppermint Patty.

"In my mind, I'm going back home again~
Her frame is now there within view;
As I stand on the ridge like a child again~
I can see her with eyes brand new.

I can hear her soft voice calling out to me~
Calling out o'er the years throughout time;
I can hear mama singing the hymns to me~
I can see her sweet smile in my mind.

I can smell supper cooking like it used to be~
I can hear daddy read the Good Book;
In my heart it's the same as it used to be~
Home is still home when I look."

Beautiful , Denise!! By the way, where did you find the poetry from The Homespun Wife? I tried looking for it online with no success? I just love the poems you post here and would like to have the book source . Please let me know and maybe others would also be interested in a copy.

Denise, today's photo is really nice and homey. Thanks for the info about the Homespun Wife. When I went online just now, I am amazed at all the Homespun information out there in the form of magazines, books, u-tube videos etc. It never occurred to me that so many people would be into the concept of homespun. It looks like I am going to do some more investigating on this topic and see what I find because I have always been interested in the concept of homespun . It feels very comforting to me in out crazy busy world we live in.

Today would have been my Mom's birthday and she was very homespun having grown up on a farm in the Great Depression and war years.

I love all of these sweet pictures! For me, they all show a beautiful place with a certain amount of idealism. We all need a bit of simple beauty in our fast paced and often chaotic era that we live in. What some of these old houses remind me of is that generations ago, people actually lived in such old homes and farmed. When that lifestyle became hard to maintain financially, those homes and farms were sold. But, when I see these pictures, they remind me of the old farm my grandparents lived on. It was bought in 1929 and lived on until 1958 when failing health required them to move in with my family. I was only 7 when they moved in and so my memories of life on the farm are limited to ages 4-6. But I do remember when we visited every summer, the feeling of freedom outside, the huge garden full of fresh vegetables, and the old wood burning stove and Grandma's big Hoosier cabinet. There was also only an outhouse and all water was carried in from the pump in the front yard. In my young head, it was paradise on this farm with this big old farmhouse full of things I had never seen before. Old timey ways worked just fine for me!!

Thanks, Winnie, for taking us back to a simpler time. That is what this world needs more of right now. Kids now days have no idea what it would be like to live like that. My grandmother lived on a farm.
