I was thinking about making a friendship quilt (wall hanging) of our henhouse sisterhood. Each member would make a fabric square and sign it with our name and city, state. We would have a couple months to make the blocks for everyone who signs up.
Guidelines: - 6-1/2" unfinished cotton fabric square (would finish at 6" in the quilt) - any pattern (I can suggest several easy patterns) - Medium: pieced, appliqué, or fabric paints as long as it is on cotton fabric Note: if paint or appliqué, need to cut square larger than 6-1/2" AFTER painting or appliquéing - any color fabrics that includes a white strip or square that would be signed - send one block to each participant in this swap - put the blocks together yourself - post a picture here - hang on your wall or use as a table runner/square
Would anyone be interested?

Sign me up please. This means making 15 blocks and sending 14? With our own we would end up 15 blocks to use. |

Glad to have you join in, Karen. As soon as I see how many are going to participate, if anyone wants me to suggest some possible pieced blocks I can do that. |

A pattern. How will that work with an embroidered or painted square? |

Thank you, Winnie. I misspoke and will change what I said above.
I think we can each choose to make a pieced block or make a fabric block that is painted on or appliqued. It must be 6-1/2" square AFTER whatever medium is used. I say after because if you cut a 6-1/2" square and then embroider, paint, or applique, the block will be smaller and will not be the size needed to sew together. The seam allowance to sew the blocks together is 1/4".
There also needs to be a place on the front of the block for our name, city, and state info, and no writing should be within 1" from the edge of the block. I am saying 1" to be sure there is a clear space between the written info and the seam when sewn together so we don't lose part of the written info.
I hope this makes sense? If anyone has anything I need to clarify please let me know. |

Linda, I am confused about your statement above. I am not able to join in this fun activity at this time. It sounds like a fun idea and I look forward to seeing what the end results are. |

Yes, Denise, that should have been to you. Sorry to confuse you, Winnie.
Basically, the quilt square would be a 6-1/2" fabric square sent to everyone who wants to participate. You can complete it in any way - up to the maker. The size is the only important step. |

I guess this isn't something our henhouse is interested in right now. Only 3 of us are interested. Maybe later in the fall more would be interested. |

Painting on a block of fabric sounds interesting! I am interested later on if possible. Linda! Great idea!

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for what he has done. Philippians 4:6
Just follow God unquestioningly. Because you love Him so, for if you trust His judgment there is nothing you need to know.
