On July 4th, the Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence, which had been written largely by Jefferson. Though the vote for actual independence took place on July 2nd, from then on the 4th became the day that was celebrated as the birth of American independence.

What a wonderful day to celebrate America!
How do y’all celebrate the 4th?
We will spend the day together as a family, play games, grill out and enjoy life with no work.
(unpacking)
We stay home to watch over our FurBabies who are afraid of the fireworks, 2 of them anyway.
I look forward to this day so much, we have flags and white lights everywhere. So festive!

I wish each of My Wildflowers a fun and safe weekend.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

Each year is different for us. It looks like this year we're going to be baling straw and getting it hauled home. The guy that owns the field wants to plant soy beans and there's a chance of rain so we need to hurry and not take the day off. Depending on how tired we are we might go watch some fireworks. We're having a cookout tomorrow for lunch since my nephew has to work Monday.

Never a dull moment for farmers and ranches is there Heather. Oh but I know how much you love Baling hay. Nice to have your nephew there tomorrow for a cookout. Have fun!

When I was growing up I spent every July 4th at the St. Paul Rodeo with my family and extended family. My “elders” all belonged to the rodeo association so it was a big time for them.
Since marrying a farmer, we are usually busy swathing grass at night so the drivers are sleeping during the day. Sometimes we are onto combining grass, so some of us are driving combine during the day. There is a parade in town that we will go to on Monday to see the 3 grand boys on the Boy Scout float. Brad and my tradition was to drive into town at dark and get Brad some ice cream from the DQ and find a place to park and watch the big fireworks show at the high school. The fireworks are my favorite part of the day!
