Well, August is on the horizon. We have a birthday this month in our family. School starts in 2 weeks and I guess schedules and days will change. Not as much for me except we won't get to see the kids as much. On the upside here is a photo for my fellow fall lovers!

Haha!! Love the picture, Denise! So funny. The start of school definitely changes the routine for everyone…my partner in crime, aka my daughter, will be headed back to work at the end of August…

Denise, this past year she was a para-Ed at an elementary school. This year she will be substitute teaching (with an emergency teaching certificate) until spring when she will be student teaching. She is working on her masters. The school districts here are desperate for subs. So that’s why she opted to get her emergency cert. :)

It's that time of the year my Mother called Septober. Sometimes known as Indian summer, which is probably not PC now. Somehow Indigenous Peoples Summer doesn't have quite the same ring.

Judith,
I'm part Native American and the name Indian has never offended me or anyone in my family.

Today, my local grocery store had their Pumpkin Spice coffee in!! It is my favorite of all the coffee makers who offer PS coffee so of course I had to have a bag and rush home to make some. Never mind that it is absolutely HOT AND HUMID outside and nowhere near Fall! LOL!!! But, I look forward to the season and this coffee is a part of that.

Denise, I love those fall themed photos you found. Charlie Brown and The Great Pumpkin has been a favorite of mine for years.

Linda, I like that old magazine article about Indian Summer. We used to have it in Virginia when I grew up somewhere in the early days of October. We don't have such a thing here in Florida because summer temps are the default return after every cool front that makes it down at any time of the year.

Our Burr days might be a couple sometime in December, but not always. Usually January and early February have the potential for cold temps. It really depends on if we have a La Nina year of a La Nino year. The La Nina is what we have been having since 2021 and it is above avg temps and somewhat drier than usual.

Wow, pumpkin spice out already! I am ready for all things fall but want to wait a bit on getting out my decor. Will be by the end of the month though.
I have my Americana decor in the basement. I will have to take some pictures to share of that. Some walls down there are white and some are blue. I love it. Though it needs more red. I do have a red carpet down there. Also grandchildren toys add to the decor. They bring over here toys they still want but mom says have to be downsized. Can you imagine downsizing toys. We never had so many that we had to get rid of them when I was a kid. They all fit in a toy box except for books and we didn't have to many of those either.
Still have boxes we haven't unpacked. Need to get busy on that again. It's like Christmas when I find one still unopened. Lol.

There are so many beautiful colors and sizes in the sunflower family. August is that month when they are all blooming and enjoying the sun.

Denise, I had the same experience with toys in my home growing up. Many of the things like puzzles, crayons, old coloring books, roller skates, story books, and other generic items were handed down from child to child. I played with blocks that had been my older brothers and used the skates that older sisters had used. The only personal toys were a few dolls that were mine. My parents were married in 1938 and raised their big family during an era of decades where people did not extra money to spend and as a result, everything was handed down, mended , and used until it no longer usable. Lucky for us, my Mom could sewing beautifully and she could remake anything into something special for the next child.

I just love sunflowers! Such a happy flower!

Growing up, I didn’t have tons and tons of toys either. A lot of the toys I did have came from thrift stores. When my girls were growing up, we had to downsize their toys though. Two reasons for the downsizing…small house = shared bedroom. Not a ton of storage for a plethora of toys. Second reason…my hubby’s mom is from a huge family and all of John’s aunts/uncle bought Christmas gifts for the girls. We would donate to shelters if possible.
