I'm making a grocery run tomorrow and plan to try the chili - only I have a freezer full of beef so I'm going to try that instead of turkey.

Anyone have any leaves changing yet? There seems to be a yellow tint to the trees around here but I think that it's weather related rather than fall since it's been that way most of summer. I'm still not sure where summer has gone, but I'm ready for fall now.

It's a bit warm out - summer seems to be fighting back LOL! But, we're mowing hay today so the chili is going in the crock pot for supper. I'll give a report and let you all know how it is :)

That's cute! I'm ready for the fall cool down! It was quite hot making hay. We got the big field done (240 bales so far!) and have 2 smaller ones to go. It rained last night and most of today. We have rain in the forecast through Tuesday so I get to play catch up in the house and garden for a couple days :)

I was skeptical of the chili for 2 reasons - one is that for me the purpose of the crock pot is to do the cooking so I don't have to. I don't usually do recipes that I have to saute the pepper and onion then add the garlic, then cook the burger....I'm more of a dump it in, turn it on recipe kind of gal LOL! And the second is that 4.5 tsp of chili powder sounded a bit crazy. I was actually worried it was a typo and that I was going to ruin it so I got out extra burger in case it was awful. But what do I know - I use canned chili beans in chili sauce for my chili. Who knows how much chili powder is in there. So, I gave it a go - cooking everything and 4.5 tsp of chili powder! It was TOTALLY worth it!!!! We didn't even add any toppings it was SOOO good! This recipe is a keeper for sure! The only thing is I don't have a little crock pot - just a big one. I was worried about it over cooking since it was such a small amount in a big cooker so I turned it down to stay warm for the last little while of cooking since I wasn't in the house to watch it. I highly recommend trying it. As soon as it cools down I'll be making it again. Maybe with a grilled cheese sandwich :)

Okay Debbie I copied your recipe and am going to try it. Tom does not like pumpkin at all except for Pumpkin Pie so I will sneak
this one in.
Thank you Wildflowers for all the great recipes.

Maybe the amount of chili powder covers up any pumpkin taste?

It didn't taste like pumpkin but it was sweeter and creamier that regular chili. I don't think Tom will even notice unless he sees you put it in :)

The soybeans are starting to get yellow in them and the corn is turning brown on the bottom! Is anyone else seeing the colors of fall yet?
