Today I made hubby a German Black Forest Cake. My first time. I need to brush up on my decorating.
We will have it for dessert tonight with coffee and Kirsch (cherry) Liquor.
Yum, Yum!

Looks yummy! Are those black cherries on top?

That looks AMAZING! I'd love to try it!!! I made a chocolate cake for my father in laws birthday party Saturday. Hopefully I'll have time to upload photos soon and I'll show you :)

Karen - how were the sugarless pumpkin pies?

Well…the first one was a bit odd tasting. You could mostly taste the cinnamon. We just sprinkled sugar or that one. The other one I actually scooped the filling out, added sugar and mixed, then refilled the pie crust. Aside from not being as “set up” it tastes really good now! Lol :)

Karen - some of my best tasting creations are the worst looking ones LOL! I'm glad your pie tastes good now :)

Today I am making a Gluten Free Red velvet pound cake. Now what was I thinking making it from scratch, who do I think I am Betty Cocker!!
Let me just say I am not a real good cook, not sure I even like cooking but…I thought this would be a little pound cake. Nope full blown cake in my bunt pan. I will not tell a lie I have never in my 48 years of marriage made a cake from scratch, I have always made them right out of the box as that’s how I was raised. Now I know why! I hope it taste good as we love Red Velvet Cake. I will let you know how it turns out.
Happy Sunday to all.

Big Hugs,
Debbie

Debbie I was basically raised on box mix myself until Christmas when my mom made Japanese fruit cake. Well once, and only once I tried to make a chocolate layer cake from scratch. I guess I was supposed to know to use three round cake pans, but didn’t and only used two. That was a big mess to clean up the oven, so it’s been box cake for me ever since, lol.

Don't feel bad that you forgot to add the sugar. My attempts to bake are usually flops...because my oven does not work. So I use the air flyer and guess at a time and temp.
Thats why I bought a used bread baking machine. Things were going along nicely until my last effort. It is dense, not light. I was mad at myself because I wasted the wheat berries. In the past that was not such a big deal, but just like everything else wheat berries continue to go up in cost.

Sorry to hear your bread didn't turn out Marilyn.

That cake looks fantastic Debbie!

I love to cook and bake from scratch. I do it all the time so I don't always think about what I know that others may not know. Here's a prime example that's a bit like Wanda's story. My husband doesn't cook or bake. Except for my birthday - he always makes me a cake. From scratch, not a box! The first time he made a round cake like I do (where there's 2 cakes and frosting in between) he got out my big cheesecake pan and put half the cake batter in, then a little tub of icing, then the rest of the cake batter. Then he put it all in the oven and wondered why it wouldn't "get done". The funniest part is I always cut off the rounded tops when I do this (so they stack better) and he eats them while I'm icing the cake so he should have known there are 2 cakes. I will never let him forget this LOL! It didn't deter him though. He still makes me a cake every year :)

My husband is the best!

I have meat balls baking right now for spaghetti for supper :)

Eventually I do sleep. I sat down to knit a bit this afternoon and I was so sleepy I thought I'd take a little power nap. It turned into a 2 hour nap!!!!! Hopefully I'll sleep tonight.
