It's not really a happy Memorial day. People honoring those they have lost. But it is a day to be happy and grateful for the freedoms they gave their lives for so we would continue to have them.

Memorian Day is a nice way to honor those who have who have gone before and fought and served our country and also those who are currently defending our country. Is anyone doing anything special for Memorial Day?

Ed has rented the motorhome on Saturday to a local Country Western singer and is driving it to the venue location; he will be staying there from about 8:30 am to 11:30 pm. I am going to stay home and sew or keep trying to organize the garage. He will be there all day. Hopefully, fingers crossed, they will like it so much that they will want to buy it. We have only used it once since COVID was more or less over. He keeps saying he wants to sell it - it is an expense to keep up with and every year for the past few years he's had to order parts to fix something. Just recently he fixed the generator, and as soon as he got that done the switch that runs the couch-to-bed went out and we ordered it from Amazon.

I was just in Ferndale to get my prescriptions and in the window was this nice display for Memorial Day.

Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial day is for those who lost their lives in fighting for our country.

Veterans day is a day for those who have served during war or peacetime.

Armed Forces day is for those who are currently serving our country.

We are spending the day with family.

This year I will be putting flowers on my grandfathers grave. I'm going to make a list of my ancestors who served and I'm hoping next year I can go to all of their graves. I already have the information, I just need to put it in one document. They are all within an hour drive of my house so I can do it and they deserve it.

Great idea, Andrea. We put out a flag and flowers on my husband’s stepfather’s grave every year. He served in the Korean War.

Adding my wishes to everyone for a Happy Memorial Day! We have started a tradition to watch Band of Brothers every year so that we finish it up before Memorial Day and of course June 6, 1944 which was the Invasion of Normandy when the US Army and other allies hit the beaches and began the big push forward to Berlin and defeat the Wehrmacht. I also have a special flag basket that holds Warren's Dad's Flag that was on his casket upon his death. He served in the US Navy on a PT boat in the WWII Pacific Theatre against the Japanese. WWII was the biggest threat to Democracy to every country with a democratic government. What a bloody drawn out war it was and millions of soldiers and civilians lost their lives. Memorial Day is a good time to keep in mind that involvement in war efforts have taken our soldiers to many places over the past 250 years. Each Memorial Day I pray for World Peace and the continued efforts globally to keep that goal alive for all Nations. I think continued efforts to keep global peace is the best way to give our thanks to all of our soldiers that gave their lives in the effort to achieve that goal.
