Good Morning everyone,
I am waiting for a load of fertilizer so thought I would pop in and check on everybody. My days have been spent spreading said fertilizer on the fields, a really boring job, but very necessary. It is supposed to rain tomorrow and since I have to go to town that should work out well. I am trying to figure out if I can get all my potting soil, bagged mulch, weed and feed and groceries in my car since I have no plans of going back for a few weeks.

How is everyone, I don't get on here a lot right now to read everyone's posts, but I am thinking of you all.

Hugs to all
Julie

Hi Julie, We are fine and busy, but not your kind of busy :)! The puppies are still loving their antlers...they say "thank you" again!
Hope you get all your "stuff" into your car tomorrow while you are in town running errands. We did that this morning. I am now baking a quiche for lunch.
Debbie, Hope you shoulder is getting better!
Tammy, loved your Easter table and the food looked yummy!
Darlene, I so enjoy your e-cards - thank you!
Sherry, Hope you are feeling better.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day, doing whatever it is that you are up to! After lunch, I am going to attack my closet, changing out clothes for the Spring/Summer season! Not a job that I enjoy, until it is finished :) Also taking a lot of clothes to the "Thrift", that I haven't worn in forever!
Hugs, Ruth

Good morning everyone,

Not sure I'm ready to sit on my front porch, yet! We had the wood stove going last night. It was cold! I cannot believe we still have the furnace going this time of year. We've lower the thermostats, but nonetheless, it's still going! Gorgeous morning today, the sun is out and it's cool! I don't mind, it's nice to see the sun!

What have you all been working on? Myself, I've started numerous quilting projects! My eyes are bigger than my time available to complete them all! Started the quilt "Words to live by" and I just love how it's turning out. It's a combination of wool and cotton. What's really nice about wool is that you don't have to turn the edges under. Don't get me wrong, I love hand applique, but with wool, you don't need to be concentrating on turned edges, making sure they are nicely curved etc. It's almost like hand embroidery, mindless! Gosh, and mindless has been a necessity for me, like air! Lots going on in my head! I think it's going to explode! lol

Went prom dress shopping last week with my dd on St Hubert street in Montreal. That street is full of history. My mother would shop there for her cloth when she was a working girl. It was renowned for tailored items. You could find anything and everything there. Now, it's mainly for formal wear, like proms and weddings. We didn't find anything she liked. Frankly I cannot believe the price tag on some of these gowns. It just wasn't worth the quality! Afterwards, I drove through the neighbourhood I grew up. It was nice showing her my school and all the places I played as a youth. Even took her on Fleury street, the shopping street of my youth. We didn't need gyms back then, we walked every where! Afterwards, we had dinner with my mums and of course talked about St Hubert street at the time of her youth. Nostalgic!

Well, I guess I babbled enough! Hope everyone is well! Cheers!

Good morning Ladies,
We are beginning tornado season here and have possible threats tonight and stronger threat this weekend :(
Trying to situate balcony plants to protect them from wind.

Most likely spending night at one of my daughters as she has a basement should it be needed.
Love spring, but never the dang tornadoes!!! Aargh!

Hope everyone is having a good day today :)

Hang in there Linda we will be sending good thoughts your way. I remember tornado season all to well being born and raised in Missouri, then hurricane season living in Savannah, GA. Now in Colorado it is fire season, I guess all the United States no matter where you live has something we always have to watch out for.
Love the Front Porch Chat Julie, just what we need as some of us await spring:-)

Debbie

I feel like I have been out of the loop here for a bit.
Much going on.
I wanted to let you gals know that quite sometime ago, probably close to a year now, I have been planning to make us all t shirts. Some of you might remember I asked for your sizes. Well, I am trying to work on some of them today. For those I have sizes for I will get done and then I will email the ones I don't have sizes for yet. I will try to send them out as I get them done.

Took Dad to the Glaucoma Dr. today per the Opthamologist's request. We are looking at surgery. Not sure when but will know by Tuesday. If I am not on a lot that is why. Many things to take up my time but I do want to stay in the group so I will be here as much as I can. Dad and I both get extremely nervous about such things. JT went with us today so that we have more than one set of ears. Dad is deaf and it makes things difficult. He does wear two hearing aids but can only hear in one ear. Has been that way all my life. I am not thrilled that we have to go to Philly to have the surgery but you do what you have to I guess. I'd appreciate prayers for the timing and all as I am scheduled to go to my dd's the beginning of June to take care of the girls for them. Found out my brother in law(husband to sister who had cancer) is getting his house ready to sell and will move here when it does. I believe he will be a big help with dad and I am looking forward to having him close by. Anyway all that to ask for your prayers. I need those I know I can count on to pray for us.
Thanks so much you know I love you all.

Denise, Praying for all that is going on in your life right now! You more than have your hands full..
Linda, Praying for everyone this weekend and the first of the week as these predicted storms go through! I am with you, I love Spring, but could definitely do without the severe weather it can bring!
Debbie, Happy to see you back on, hope you and Tom are feeling better.
I just got home went to my daughter Denise's on Thursday, as she had to have an epidural on Friday morning. Her Hubby was unable to get off work to take her. We also got to see our Great Grandson play softball, which was fun for us all. He is 7, so it can be quite entertaining! He is a great little ball player, he is super at keeping his eye on the ball. He played Short stop and got lots of ball hits to him.
Take care you all!
Hugs, Ruth

I am trying to catch up in the HenHouse as I have not been around much, just honestly have not felt good and neither has hubby. It is a pain and struggle getting old but I know it can be worse. But, it sure is getting old and I am tired of it.
Tomorrow I have an appointment for a physical and blood work to try and find out what is going on in this old body of mine besides all this pain.
Hubby has an appointment too so hopefully we both will feel better soon.
Just wanted all of you to know I have not forgotten about all of you or the HenHouse just have not felt up to much.
Have a beautiful, wonderful, warm day and have fun.
Hugs,
Debbie

Debbie - well now it has been a couple of days, I hope by now you and the hubs are feeling better-better weather might help! We have rain and high winds in the forecast from today for 4-5 days coming, Geesh! I guess I shouldnt complain though, others in the country are going through much worse. and thanks to Debbie for posting partners for the Mothers day swap! I have not been around the henhouse much last week as my granddaughter here in Buffalo Nina was christened! Everything turned out just beautiful the only thing is that Nina cried throughout the whole thing, the mass before for an hour and the ceremony itself which was over an hour! She does not take a pacifer an my daughter were quite distrat! Her husband Tony had to keep wisking her away and walking her around at the back of the church! Now im back and trying to catch up with everything but also preparing to go to Florida a week from tomorrow for another Christening of my grandson Sean. My husband only has off 6 days for this trip and we are driving so we will only actually be in Florida for 2 days! I am finishing up a few things I have made for him and keep thinking of more; I have to stop! Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Chickies, Love the Front Porch Chat, but right now, our Front Porch looks like someone spray painted it a greenish/yellow :(! oh my the pollen is unreal! I will have to get the pressure washer out to get it clean. Hopefully the rain we are having will clean the trees of the pollen and Oak tassels. Another night of predicted storms starting around 11 pm. Last night we just had lots of thunder and lightening. Atlanta was hit hard with destructive winds. Praying for all those folks in the states that were hit so hard by the storms.
Debbie, Hope you get some answers for you and Tom and that you will both feel better very soon!
Sue, Please have safe travels - that is one long drive for only 2 days there. We have done it many a time, but were much younger than we are now. Our trip was from Orlando to Boston MA when our girls were little.
Everyone be safe, and hope this finds you well!
Hugs, Ruth

Hi chickies, just hanging out today with chicken broth, hot tea and lots of tissues and cough drops. JT took dad to the retina specialist appt. I was thankful he was willing to take the morning off to go. The appt went well. He is having surgery on his eye for the glaucoma. The pressure is to high and they need to place a tube to help drain the fluid to keep the pressure down. That won't be till the 20th.
Getting ready for a quick visit from my brother in law. He is heading back home to get the headstone for my sister done. I am excited because he is talking about moving here once the house sells there. He and my sister were married when I was 9 yrs old and it seems like he is as much my brother as my own brothers. More so sometimes. Well, I am starting into coughing fit so will see you all later.

Happy May Day! When I was a little girl, we used to decorate our doll carriages, bikes and whatever else with crape paper and had a little parade. And yes even the May Pole! Does any one else remember doing this? I am older than some of you and I don't know if that was just a New England thing or if other people participated. Just curious!
The storms are gone, and we didn't suffer any damage, thankfully! Today was a beautiful day to work outside, which we did. Planting some flowers, cleaning some flower pots, painting some flower pots, etc. It is really looking like Spring here, pollen and all!

Happy May Day!
Ruth, every year Keith gives me a May Basket, love that tradition. We have had several days of wet weather, which of course put our field work to a halt. So we put the new flooring in the kitchen, dining room and foyer. 3 days of being on my hands and knees and all that twisting and bending reminded me I am not as young as I think I am. But it looks beautiful and was well worth it. Tomorrow it is back to my tractor seat, guess we are starting to seed wheat. We haven't raised wheat in a few years, so am excited for a fresh supply to grind for flour. My rhubarb is starting to poke through and the tulips are showing signs of blooming so it must be spring, although a cool one.
Take care everyone!
Hugs

Good to see everyone on the front porch, as the weather warms I hope all of use will continue to share our gardens and farm work, I love hearing about it. I can only imagine how wonderful and hard farm life must be but without our farmers we would not have the food on our table we eat so I am grateful. If and when I come to visit you Julie on the phone I would hope that you and Keith will put to me work and so me how it is done. Love to pick flowers too!

Ruth, we have no flowers up here yet, well I do not have any planted or have not bought any yet just too early.

We hope to go to the Blossom and Arts and Crafts Festival in Cannon City a little town about 45 minutes from here tomorrow Saturady. We take all the back mountain roads it is such a beautiful drive, we get to see so many wildlife, and Cannon City is suppose to be full sun tomorrow and 78 degrees oh to be warm. Should not have to wear fleece, summer top and crop pants, what joy! So we will go and just enjoy ourselves, the flowers, people and when we get tired come home, it will be fun and good for both of us to get out of the house for awhile.

So, what ever each of you do this weekend, I hope you enjoy your weather and have fun. Anyone else have any festivals, farmers market or spring festivities going on in your neck of the words?

Take care, have fun and Be Happy.

Hugs,
Debbie
