Joyce - your cows are beautiful!!!!!
Debbie - thank you for the prayers!
Bridge - how are things going with the boat search?
Denise - my chicks are getting so big!!! The broilers should be able to be butchered in two weeks. the laying hens are getting quite lovely. We get more chicks - australorps this time - next week. Super excited!
Alicia - How is Zabrina? What did the breeder say? What breed is she? Texting you shortly!
Christine - how is your aerogarden?
I'm at a tough spot... I'm fully hydrated and rested... but I'm still having contractions, and we are only 13 weeks. I can either "stop life" to make them go away, or take my chances and take care of everyone and everything else. Not sure which route to take! |

Hi Shannon....My heart goes out to you. You're in my prayers and thoughts. My aerogarden is great! We already ate the lettuce, some of the tomatoes, my green peppers are huge! Thank you for asking :)

After a very frustrating evening yesterday, I FINALLY spent more time in prayer (I had kinda lost hope) and I had a realization.... Scripture says that God knows the number of our days... So the number of days for this sweet precious baby I am carrying has already been determined. So me staying on bedrest and stopping life, or my continuing in my daily actions is not going to change the lifespan of this child... it could affect the quality of life, however, so don't think I'm throwing all caution to the wind. Sooooo I think I am going to start living again, but take it more easy than normal... I'm not sure what this will look like, but I'm going to try. My thoughts at this point are to quit planning so many big projects... which means I'm not going to have all my badges done by the end of 2018, or my house/property where I wanted it this year... but I'm okay with that. I tend to be a "go-getter" and "over achiever" so this is a big step outside of my comfort zone. We are still planning to get our goats this year, but I think our pigs and our meat rabbits are going to wait. The orchard will wait until next Spring, as will the bees. I'm trying to work on planning the kids' school now a little at a time, during my "easy times". Also, with the baby being due around Thanksgiving, I am planning to give the kids completely off the week of Thanksgiving, through the beginning of January. |

This makes me happy to hear....you are being very sensible and smart...and turning it over to God is always the best way to go! All things in their due time....it will all get done eventually and you never know...it might turn out even better than originally planned! |

Shannon - I'm so glad that you used scripture (God) to help you determine which step to take. You are being led by Him, and all things work together for his glory. Praying for you! Hugs :) |

Well I'm caught up as far as this thread. I've been absent due to a horrible stomach bug also! Two weeks ago it hit two of my kids, at separate times, then last week it got me. I was fairly recovered, and then yesterday it was all over again. :( I'm not sure the two were related though, as silly as that sounds. Thankfully the baby didn't get it. Anyway I feel pretty normal today. My kitchen is in decent condition again. Hopefully I can work on the rest of the house tomorrow!
Joyce I'm so happy you're back!
Shannon it sounds like you've reached a good decision for how to proceed for you and your baby's health. I'll be praying for you. |

Oh, Alicia....I had the same problem!!! No wonder you have been feeling so bad! I didn't even know I had fibroids. I'm thinking I had a couple...one was the size of a lemon..yikes! And then my body got used to being anemic...to a point. But in all honesty, my surgery was one of the best things to happen to me. Do not worry! You won't believe how much better you will feel afterwards! |

I'll keep you in my prayers Alicia!
Thankfully all sign of sickness is gone in our house. We've had a pretty normal week. I'm very happy about that. We're finishing up school, and I think because I know we're so close to the end I'm losing motivation. We've accomplished what I've set out to do for this year, so it isn't a crisis or anything. I just need to get through a couple more weeks. |

Shannon, I'm just catching up a little each day on the Henhouse and the Connection. I am so sorry for all you have gone through with your pregnancy..even the nasty lady...and am happy to read you are feeling calmer and putting this in our God's hands. It's never easy..but you will make it through either way.
Alicia, sorry you haven't been feeling well. Fibroids and anemia are no fun. (been there, done that.) I guess I agree with Debbie about the surgery. How is Zabrina doing this week?
Erin- So glad you are back and sickness is out the door!
Joyce- Daisy is Beautiful, and your calf is a cutie!
Well, we just returned to 20 days vaca through the SW. (8 days of it was spent at a rented house in the Buckeye/Verrado area of Phoenix with my sister and other family for a wedding). We drove out and back. So much beautiful country. A new adventure every day. I spent the week after we got home just coming down from the high of that adventure! Now I am going through photos on computer and trying to tame our yard and put in a garden.
Hugs to all of you! |

Judith - I was so happy to read your post! I've missed you :) Sounds like you had a great vaca!! Today is my studio recital - my list big hurtle before my summer break. I have a few students here and there to teach for the next month to prepare them for the exams. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! |

Judith I'm so happy to hear from you! I love road trips! Driving southwest sounds like it would be a lot of fun. I haven't been farther west than Iowa in a car. Seems like I've just stuck mostly to driving out East, but I have always wanted to road trip out to see the Redwoods in CA.
Joyce how did your recital go? We bought a piano a few months ago and my boys have been taking lessons. My husband loves to tinker with it. He plays Edelweiss constantly!
We've been doing a lot of yardwork lately and baseball has taken up quite a bit of time. The boys play in the local league, and that's over mid-June, but they really want to play in another league in June and July. I don't know if we're going to do it. I was so looking forward to the end of baseball season, but their homeschool friends are doing this other one. So now I have to decide if I want to be selfish mom or not!

My recital went well - I feel so relieved and free! One week of school left for the kids, and I teach tonight for 1/2 hour, tomorrow for 3 hours, and Thursday for one hour, and the following week only 1 1/2 hour, and then on the 3rd, 10th and 17th of July I'll be teaching about 3-4 hours each, but it feels like such a relief to be "done" :) I shall be rejoicing on the evening of the 17th when I'm officially free for a month, before I start planning and preparing for the fall again! :D |

Good morning dear friends! Things here are pretty rocky! Every time I think I've got a handle on things, I quickly realize I don't! Being at a different altitude and having no humidity, is really playing havoc on me right now! I cannot seem to catch up on fluids, though I've started eating pedialyte popsicles and that seems to be keeping my electrolytes up now. We butchered our broilers this past week, with finishing up the last twenty on Saturday. I ended up BURNT, which of course leads to more dehydration. Yup... pretty stupid on my part... though in my defense it was only in the 70s, so I wasn't even sweating! I didn't realize i was burning! I'm so use to getting out of the sun so I don't burn when I get uncomfortable outside, but that has yet to happen. To top it off, the butchering set the arthritis in my wrist into a fit!!!! I'm back in my hand brace 24/7 right now. Of course it is my right hand, which makes things much more difficult. Oh - and my allergies are having a fit! I'm not sure what has triggered them... oddly enough, they are worst at night. And oh so busy... My younger sister and her family will be here Wednesday, we get our goats in two weeks, my parents come shortly there after, Brad's parents will be here from the 28th of June through July 8th, and then my aunt and her husband come the 18th through the first or second week of August! Obviously I am overwhelmed... there is not enough of me to spread around (though there is LOTS of me to spread, hahaha). I'm still trying to be active here and on the main boards, but am struggling to keep up. Last month I was terribly behind on all my swaps - in fact, I still haven't caught up. Joyce sent me a really sweet email offering to take over the badge challenges. I graciously... and desperately, accept her offer for help! Please know, even if I'm not around, you guys are always on my heart and in my prayers! <3 |

Shannon - I'm so thrilled to hear from you. Please know I'm praying for you every day, and I truly wish I could buy a ticket to come and help you - not visit, but help. Big hugs, and know you will continue to be in my prayers every day. |

Oh, I have missed being on here! I'm so glad to get caught up with everyone this morning!
Alicia...I just watched your video. Thank you for sharing...that was incredibly difficult for you. Your farm is beautiful and I'm sure that Levi is proud of what you are doing.
Joyce....Hooray!!! Freedom is on the horizon!!! You make such a difference in so many people's lives with your teaching!
Erin...Glad you are over your bug and all of you are doing well! Don't feel bad if you have to be the selfish mom...There are so many parents out there who are exhausted with being the chauffeur. It's good for everyone to have some downtime.
Shannon....I pray for you daily! One of the worst sunburns I got was when I was expecting my son. My daughter, who is now expecting her first this Christmas, also got a sunburn a week ago...and she NEVER burns! I'm wondering if being PG has anything to do with it, also? Please take care of yourself....hopefully all of your company will be there to help and not just visit. When my parents bought their ranch, my mom kept track on a calendar that first year of all of the company our family had...out of that first 365 days, we had maybe 65 days or so that we were just there as a family without anyone else! It was fun for awhile but there were some days you just wanted to be by yourselves. And poor mom had to cook for everyone!
Judith...your trip sounds glorious! Maybe you could post some of your favorite photos on here sometime! I have never been to the southwest but some of it is on my bucket list...like Mesa Verde and Monument Valley. My husband and I just got to spend a week in Texas and Louisiana and are planning our next trip back. |
