That is really neat Denise, My mom did some research years ago on our geneology, I need to look through it. There are so many papers. It is a lot of work and she did it before the computers by going to the library and other places.
Lots of work.

Have a great day!

It is interesting to learn about our families history. All of us were children of immigrants at some point or another. I want to do one of those DNA tests and try and get more specific information on my families. IT is fascinating to learn and I love hearing about how people came here and started new lives.

Winnie,
I always laughed when I thought of being part native American. Funny because one would never guess that when they see a blue eyed blond. But we are Mohawk on my dad's side. Sometimes I am amazed at the background we have, English, Irish, Dutch, Native American and Scotch. But I love the heritage I have in all of these peoples.

Wow, that is very interesting, Denise!! That is precisely why I need to do one of those DNA ancestry tests. Who knows what pieces make up who I am.

Bonnie That is quite a mixture.
On my dad's side was Italian and Sicilian, and my mom's was also a dukes mixture, Irish, Scots, English and Cherokee.
I loved celebrating St. Patricks day and other holiday.

My mother's ancestors were English; my father's were Polish and Czech. Quite a mixture.

I would love to have my DNA done. Irish - Black Dutch on my mother's side and English and German on my fathers. Have no idea what Black Dutch means except burnet hair does show up in my family from time to time. My son was born blond and had blue eyes up to about ten. When he passed at 43 his eyes had changed to green and his hair and beard were jet black.

My DH read a report that quite often those DNA tests aren't necessarily correct. Also, they are collecting and using the information to find people. Wonder if there are restrictions as to where, what parts and how the information can be shared. It would be nice to think it only is for each individual that makes the request. Something to think about.

The school I work at had a Cinco de Mayo last night. The kids did the dancing and they were all dressed so nicely, and it was really nice! The food was wonderful.

Have a good Sunday.

From JT to celebrate our anniversary today. My eldest brother's birthday is today also as well as 2 of my cousins. The year we were married it fell on the day before mother's day, but has also been on mother's day a few times over the years.

Well who knew! My sister had quite a large collection of turtles. I have an ornament that belonged to her and I hang it on the tree every year.

Happy Belated Best anniversary Wishes to you Denise and JT!!

Those little turtles are cute! We used to have a neighbor next door who rescued at risk turtles from our area of Florida and raised them in this incredible tank and outside water area. I never knew so many species of turtles existed in north Florida.

My sister lived in Plant City and she loved going to Medard park. She would see them there. I should have said that the ones she collected were trinkets kept in a curiosity cabinet. I loved finding unique ones for her when we lived in Hawaii. She had over a thousand when she passed away.

Hope you all have a good day today as we remember those who gave their lives that we might enjoy what we have today.

Many people were on Facebook having discussions about the meaning of this day and how it originated. So I looked it up, finding out after that I could have just asked JT. LOL. Anyway, this was what I found when I looked it up.

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. ... Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many confuse it with Veterans Day.

I have my flags out on the porch and keeping all those families who have served and are serving in our Military today. Both my brother and my husband served in the Vietnam War. When my brother returned home, I was only 14 and we had sent him many care packages and mail during his deployment. It was painfully clear to me that some of those brave men, who were all drafted, did not return home because one of my favorite neighbor's, Tony, was killed. When Dick came home, I remember such a feeling of joy and thankfulness! Today and Veterans Day, I keep in mind that the price paid by those who serve can be great, Democracy comes at a huge cost.
