I have pears to make something with, too. I have 2 dehydrators; maybe I should try some fruit leather. I will look up recipes on the computer. Julie - do you have a tried and true recipe for amount of honey or sugar?

Linda, I think you just have to puree the fruit and taste it. At least that is what I have found. If the fruit is really sweet then just dry it. But most fruit needs a bit of sweetness added.

Thanks, that's what I've found on Pinterest, too. I'm going to try it. When they are cooking I think that will make the house smell wonderful! Many recipes add water. Is that a necessity? Or again
depends on the thicvkness or smoothness of the fruit?

I cooked four batches of beans in the Instant pot yesterday, two of garbanzos and two of kidney beans. I now have six packages of beans in the freezer. I love the way the pressure cooker cooks the garbanzos -- nice and creamy. Good for hummus and salads. I put a handful in last nights minestrone too.

Linda I always add just a little water or apple juice to the bottom of the pan when I am cooking the fruit so it doesn't stick. Sweetener is to taste. Pears are wonderful puréed with strawberries made into fruit leather. We love pear honesy as well, everytime I open a jar summer comes out of it.

A little rain can straighten a flower stem. A little love can change a life.

Linda peach fruit roll ups or leather is sooooooo yummy.
The problem with dried fruit is we can eat so much so fast.just like jerky.
And if you ever have freeze dried app!es, on my goodness, even tho I tell myself one apples worth is enough for a day...it is so hard to leave the jar alone. Then

I cooked my green tomatoes that I grew! Lily june ate 1! Her momma still dont believe it. She ate cabbage too. Fried green tomatoes reminded me of my Granny cooking them when I was a kid. We stood around the stove with a napkin, grabbing them as soon as they came out of the skillet!

I love fried green tomatoes. Have you ever had green tomato pie? Tastes like apple with a little zing to eat. JT tried it, liked it, but wouldn't eat anymore when he found out what it was. Lol.

Connie, I love fried green tomatoes too!! Yours look so yummy!!

This past week, I tried two recipes from recent MJF magazines. In the Feb/March issue I tried the sweet potato mac n' cheese and it was delicious!! It helps add some good nutrition as well. The other recipe was in the April-May issue and that was the Apple, Mango, Carrot sauce. WOW, another winner too. It is great on baked chicken, sweet potatoes, and as a dipping sauce for apple slices. If you are looking for a few new things to try that are easy and simple, I recommend trying these two.

Does anyone have an air fryer? I'd like to know if you think the food tastes as good.

I love my air fryer Bonnie. I think the food is much better, no fats. I do spray things that need a fat to crisp a little more with Pam or toss with just a bit of oil, usually Olive, safflower or avacado. I have found popcorn salt works excellent for fries, sticks so much better. Last night we had crispy chicken drumsticks made in it and zucchini fries. Both were sooo good.

Today is a canning day. Brought in a basket of cucumbers for pickles and a basket of Roma tomatoes.the big tomatoes are just starting to turn although we have been eating cherry tomatoes since the 4th.

Marilyn, sorry forgot that part. This heat has baked my brain! I cut it and hung it upside down to dry in my laundry room.Took about 6 weeks for it to get brittle.

Thanks Connie!
Nothing is happening in my kitchen.
Last night the three girls brought us fried catfish, coleslaw and pinto beans. At noon we had What A Burgers, yum! And about 6 this evening my husband said we had to go back to tractor supply...because he forgot to go get horse feed. So off we went to do that, then he drove thru the Taco Casa drive through. So do you think I've forgotten how to cook.??? It certainly was a nice break!

Beautiful tomatoes Connie and Marilyn, I love the smell of fresh dried Sage. It is always wonderful when your gardening efforts pay off and you get to enjoy and keep quality ingredients. Too hot and humid here to do much of anything in the garden. Our poor flowers are struggling to hand on till the days are shorted and nights cool down. Every August down here is about the same. We all just hold our breath and hand on!! Come Fall, Come!!!
