I have been corresponding with Katie since she and I were partnered for the Hearts #6 swap. She is a very neat person and a great addition to our henhouse. She has also joined in on the polka dot 10" squares swap, the Fall Mini Apron Swap, and the Block of the Month that I started in the Stitchin' and Crafting Room.

Morning Girls, I have received Katie's info and am working on her sheet to get mailed out to everyone. Now is a good time to ask if anyone would like to update their sheet before I send Katie her packet with all of our info sheets? Please let me know if there are any changes to be made to your sheet. I have Shannon's new address and Maryellen's new address, any thing else I need to know just send me an email and I will get it changed and will hopfully have these ready to mail on Monday. Thanks everyone and have a great day. Hugs to all

Hi to everyone in my new home away from home the Scattered Prairie Gals hen house! I'm truly honored to be a part of what looks to be a great bunch of ladies. I will give you a better bio tomorrow, I just wanted to say hello to all before I go to bed. It's been a rough week medically so I'm afraid I'm behind the 8-ball. Hope everyone has a great evening (night). Katie (I will explain why I post everything in orange tomorrow, too.)

Good morning! My name is Katie Reichenbach and I live in Bangor, Pennsylvania, part of the slate belt. I live with my husband, Erik, who is an awesome man and I have a 28 year old son who lives in Pittsburgh, PA.

I can't say I do any one thing. I just re-organized my craft room and I told Erik that I "have a problem", I like to do too many things! In my craft room I have things for embroidery, needlepoint, sewing, quilting, rug-making, crocheting (must learn how to do this!), knitting, loom knitting, applique...you get the idea.

In the kitchen I have slowed down some. I used to love to cook and when I'm feeling up to it, I still do. But, I often find it a burden these days due to my health. I do can and bake our own bread and try to get dinner together each night.

Gardening - a true love. Gardening is my therapy - mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. I love being outside with my chickens and kitties and seeing the changes that occur throughout the season. This has been a particularly bad growing season for some things but great for others. I won't want for green beans come Thanksgiving, that's for sure!

My health...it's not something I like to dwell upon or talk about that often but it is, unfortunately, a big factor in my life. I have a seizure disorder but mostly I deal with having RSD/CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome formerly known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) with a ton of co-morbid conditions. I almost passed away last year from one of those issues and I'm hoping to get the last drainage tube out next month. CRPS is progressive and one of the most painful conditions on the McGill pain scale. I explain to people that I feel I have crushed glass inside my body and most of the time that glass feels like someone doused it with kerosene and lit it on fire.

So this is why I post in orange. We all know about cancer awareness but no one knows about CRPS and therefore the treatments (there is no cure and it is progressive) are slim pickins'. Orange is the color of CRPS awareness and November is CRPS awareness month. It's about the only time I actually talk about my condition and it's more to educate people about it. I don't like pity. I like to rise above it when I can. That being said, I've had a couple of rough weeks. It's been very hard and I've cried a lot.

Ok, lets end on a happy note, shall we? I just LOVE MJ Farmgirl Sisterhood. I feel like I've fallen into the place where I belong. Everyone is so friendly. I love the protocols but also love how all of you don't seem to need protocols because you know certain things are just the "right thing to do" (recognizing someone for ROAK, for instance.) I thought I was the only one who raided the mailbox when it was time for MJ Farm Magazine to come

I can't wait to get to know all of you better. It's been great to correspond with some of you already. I imagine some of my closest friendships will blossom here.

Thanks for your introduction, Katie. So glad to have you in our Henhouse. Your craft room definitely sounds like mine. and unfinished projects? I have them out the wazoo. In fact, I have another quilting t-shirt with the saying - I am working on my PhD - Projects Half Done. I have tried most crafts and my most used are sewing, crocheting, and quilting (a little different from just sewing). LOL! You do a lot - I'd love to learn to can. I have a bread machine, but if I make it I eat it, and that does no good for my diet. I know nothing about CRPS, and am happy you are here to educate us on the condition. We are here for you any time you need us. Again, welcome to the henhouse.

Well good morning Katie! So lovely to have you joining us!!! I must join you in the lots of different craft areas, though mine is not nearly so organized! I start organizing it and then I get the desire to do a craft and get totally sidetracked. My latest passion/obsession has been quilling. So. much. fun! And there is just enough intricacy that I get a challenge from it without me calling it quits <3 I probably spend the mass majority of my time in the kitchen... but I have seven, soon to be eight, children, so they keep me on my toes! How lovely to be blessed with so many green beans!!! Our family moved to Wyoming from South Carolina about ten months ago... gardening here has been a challenge! They say their weather has been off as well, but I think I am just garden challenged ;) So far I've managed to get two peppers, two tomatoes, and three radishes. That's it!!! I will be praying for you regarding your CRPS. Like Linda, I've never heard of it, but as November is the awareness month for it, I will make it my mission to learn more by the end of November! I had to giggle about the raiding of the mailbox... trust me you are not alone!!!

Linda - I absolutely adore the sound of your t-shirt!!!! How is your knee? Praying for you <3

Hi Katie,
So glad to have you join us. I too just got my craft room organized. Lol. We'll see how long that will last. Now to tackle my sewing room. Wouldn't have two rooms if my kids were still living here lol...
I do love and miss them though.

I do all the things you do plus I learned to make baskets, cane chairs, and do upholstery. It's fun to have lots of choices of things to keep busy with.

Very sorry to hear about your CRPS. I, too, have never heard of CRPS.

Hope you have a great time here!

Wow, now making cane chairs and doing upholstery must take up LOTS of space! I have somehow crammed most of my craft/sewing stuff into one room with lots of fabric spill-over to under beds (can never have enough fabric, right?) My paints I put downstairs, I hope it all works. I'm in the middle of an applique project and till I pulled out all the different fabrics that I needed for all the different pieces I felt my room was trashed. It was easy to clean up though because this time everything had a place.

My craft/sewing house is all in one - and I sew on the dining room table. I can usually find what I am looking for in thee, even though it is very cluttered. I need to organize but can't seem to find the time. I envy those of you who do manage to organize their space.

Linda, don't feel bad, I don't organize for long. I spent so much time on the craft room and left the rest of the house go, then I wasn't feeling well. Now I have a FIL coming in two days with a disaster of a house, produce needing to be dealt with and only a hankering to sew. Oh well, it will all come together, it always does.

At least the dining room table gives you a nice flat, sturdy surface to cut and sew!
