I don't know but I wonder how many others find things after they've put decorations away. I realized 2 days ago I still had my little flag outside and a little decoration for my baskets. I took them down and put them in the closet. I finally got everything organized and put away and I hate to have to go through it just for 2 little things.

I can't believe we are half way through this month. Time sure flies when you're busy. I decided yesterday would be a good day to give the files in the office a good cleaning and reorganizing. I don't know WHY I thought that. It is a lot of work but I want to make sure we start this year out knowing we can find everything we need when we need it.

Hope you all are enjoying your January and I hope the weather is being good to you.

I had my list yesterday...But I melted wax and made fire starters. That took most of the morning...But my dryer lint basket is empty...and the bag of tissue rolls is used up as well as the paper towel rolls and the Christmas paper tubes...all recycled into something useful that eventually will not take up any space!

The month of January does seem to be flying by , but it has been a good month for resorting and decluttering. I found a small table in an antique mall the other day for my cabin. I needed a place to put projects in process like swaps or little home projects. I moved around the few furniture items in my cabin to make more room and help with functionality of the limited space. But as you know, if you move one thing, it topples off a cascade to move 3 more things!! LOL!!! I really was able to sort and organize some kitchen cabinet storage spaces as well. It seems like I lack adequate room for those everyday things like canned goods and stuff like rice and dried fruits and nuts. So while I got some improvements, I still have issues mainly because I need the pantry space organized differently. SOMEDAY!!

I also tried a basic yeast bread recipe with the new Einkorn WW flour. Well, it rose up and then FELL like rock while baking and turned out like a brick!! I was disappointed and not sure what went wrong as I followed all the instructions to a tee and it all looked like it was working until the baking. I think I will try it again and replace some of the ww flour with regular flour. The einkorn does make a nice and nutty flavored product so I have hopes for more luck next time.

Winnie, how disappointing!!! It seems like when you are baking bread that you can't wait for it to be done so that you can try it. I've had bread turn into bricks before...not fun.
I am trying to get my books caught up and then get everything ready to take to the accountant. Also get my year end reports done, W-2s printed off, etc. I'm thinking if I can stay focused....which is always a challenge for me, especially when I'd rather be doing something more entertaining...that I will be done with everything by Monday!! I also have to move file folders around. Then I give my husband the job of going through the year that I am throwing out so that he can take out anything he needs and shred the rest.

Oh Winnie, I'm so sorry that your Einkorn bread was a flop. If you can slice the "brick" spread with butter and toast it in your Iron skillet. Then either spread on some Simply fruit or pour some honey over it and enjoy. (Can you tell that I have had some tools also???)

On , Winnie, there is a you tube family, young...She makes Elkhorn sourdough bread.
If you have time you should watch her. I watched it this morning.
The Elliott Homestead

My Favorite Homemade Bread Recipe! Also our new favorite breed of ducks.
She lets her dough sit for 15 minutes, after stirring the ingredients together. By doing that she allows the Elkhorn to absorb the liquid, before folding the dough or kneading it. She also lets the dough rest for a very long time. I remember reading that Einkorn does not absorb liquid like all purpose flour. But I did not remember the resting times.

Winnie, sorry your bread was a flop but there are so many kinds of bread...move on. De-cluttering here too. I need more sewing space and once I got started with the purging it was fun to think of different uses for what we have.

Not sure what to make of it but my daffodils are popping up. I sure hope they don't die from being out so early. I know it will still be cold here yet.

Mine are bloomed out too! They are quite pretty.
Since there are no 4 or 5 year olds here to snap off the pretty blooms..we all get to enjoy them...

Thanks Marilyn for your info on Einkorn bread. I am going to follow up on your lead and see what I can do better this next time around. Weather is cold here this week so it will be great bread making days ahead.

Winnie I hope you have better luck next time with your bread. I am having fun experimenting with my sourdough starter. Each loaf has had something wrong with it, but my husband is a good sport and still eats it. Today is another try, with a softer flour. I sewed most of yesterday making Valentine goodies for the grandkids and might work a little bit on cleaning my craft room this afternoon.

Been trying to clean out and straighten up this house. To much stuff messes with me. So that what I have been doing. Going to see my Uncle he is keeping himself busy. Missing Aunt Yvonne very much.
My sister is doing Ok. My brother was sick the other day with the flu. Terry and I are doing good.

Marlee, I have been thinking about you a lot....wondering how you have been feeling since you were sick over Christmas. I'm glad to hear from you! I agree with you...too much stuff messes with me as well! My husband jokes that I am just not happy unless I get rid of something everyday! I think he may be exaggerating but I don't feel peaceful if my house feels cluttered or messy....just me.
I love the saying about the squirrels...I can totally relate!

Bonnie and Marlee, sending up some extra prayers for your daily needs. It is so hard to have changes that totally effect your everyday life and prevent you from doing some things you are used to. Glad you both are able to work around your limitations and find new things that make sense and bring you joy!

Denise, good luck with your sourdough bread. I never could make that work so I just gave up. My hubby is very forgiving when it comes to homemade bread that is warm from the oven too. I appreciate his flexibility, but I am much more critical of the end product because making bread takes a lot of time and it is frustrating to make something that is a big ole' FLOP!! LOL!!

Just popping in quick. Sounds like everyone has a plan.
I've been hold up in the office trying to get the file cleaning out finished. Still have a few to go through and organized but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It is just not JT's gift to organize things. It's okay it is good for me to be learning what has to be done daily to keep him going with what he does.
Getting things together to go see the grands. I never seem to get enough time with them. My dd says I would say that even if I saw them all the time. Can't help it. I have to get my grandma fix. Lol.

Denise, I think Women are natural born organizers! My daffodils have buds! I know they are sturdy and can take a lot. I need to go check on mine again. Went down to 21 here last night!
I am beginning the task of taking my tree down this evening. Before Lily June comes back Thursday. She wants it to stay up!
Prayers Bonnie and Marlee! Here is a pic to keep you till Spring! I love this!!

Oh, how i envy those of you with green grass. It's been below zero here with no chance planting until May! One advantage...the snow and cold are perfect weather for crafting, sewing and cooking!

Bonnie, our grass is brown. There are some tiny green weeds in among the brown grass, that are trying to grow...but the cows and horses eat it quickly...before it is turned brown by the next frost. It has been cold and rainy here today. We had a bit of sun shine yesterday. It is good that we are above freezing...Bay is doing her orientation this week.
She took her state boards last Monday and passed. She will be put on the work schedule next week. She is grown up...even tho it is hard for me...because I love to remember her as a little girl.

Connie this photo, taken just before dark sort of shows my pretty yellow flowers there are still a lot of buds.
I love that arm load of yellow!
If you can get your tree put away before Lily June arrives, she may comment on its absence but if she is like my girls, she will quickly be distracted by something.
God's blessings!
