What kinds of things do you usually do in this month? This awesome month when autumn officially greets us! Apple picking? County fairs? Put up fall decoratations in your house? Rake leaves? Bake pumpkin bread? Tailgate at football games?

So far I've spent mine down and out. Yes, it was the flu. I don't know when I have felt so rotten for so long. It was rough timing because I've got much left to do to finish the move. But guess what? It made me slow down.

Hubby brought home a pile of magazines for my flu entertainment. (I have to tell you: the daytime television thing got old very quickly. I see what so many of you mean now....150 channels and nothing to watch...hard to imagine.)

Anyway in one magazine, SELF, on page 38 was the most wonderful thing: MARYJANESFARM!!! Yay! It is so fabulous to see MaryJanesFarm getting the press it deserves!

I did, I sold out.

But before we discuss that, I've got good news and bad news. Which do you want first?

Do you tend to pick the good or bad news first when someone asks you that? I usually ask for the good first...so, here goes.

The good news: internet was finally (finally!!) hooked up in our new house. It took a whole week to get it done, but, friends, it is FINALLY here. There are still some problems, but at least I can access the Internet.

Which means I'm not sitting in Starbucks at the moment, but am in my family room instead.

Incidentally, I meant to tell you that one day last week I had been working out in the yard and was not presentable in the least. Not by sight nor smell. I needed to get access to the Internet to take care of a couple of pressing things, but hated to walk into Starbucks being so entirely and completely not presentable.

I'd like to tell you that we are doing great. That wouldn't be the truth. What we are is getting by. Hearing about how you all got through the death of a pet helped us enormously. How can I say thanks? You are all so wonderful. I'd like to share a pot of tea with everyone of you.

I can tell you this: staying at the old house was just the thing to do. We needed that extra time there. It didn't really matter that there wasn't any furniture. We had what we needed. Each other and a little more time.

True, our backs hurt from sleeping on the floor, but being there was important to the whole family. On top of Elvis suddenly dying, my daughter had to start school last Wednesday. A NEW school, with all NEW people. I think all she could tell them about herself was how much her heart hurt. I hope the other kids were kind to her.

So let me show you where I am at this very minute.

Typical reponses to stress for me.

I always think I'm not stressed out and that I'm doing fine. And then the twitch comes and zit joins the twitch and then I realize otherwise.

Oh well. That's the way it goes.

The news is that our stuff is moved, but we aren't.

There's a reason for that. A sad reason.

To the twitchy eye and red nose I've added swollen eyes and nausea.

Wild Thing

There is one thing I like about moving. Finding stuff.

Stuff I haven't seen since the last time I moved. Stuff I haven't been looking for and haven't missed, but I sure am happy to see again.

Wild Thing is an example.

He was a Valentine's Day present several years back. I saw his pink stripes and his white mane at the bottom of a box as I was going through some things in the basement.
