hand-powered kitchen duty

Hand-powered food graters come in two different styles.

One style is for vegetables. It slices and grates, and usually comes with four different attachments.

The other style was designed more for meats. For my bake-less cookies, I use an old “still brand new and in its original box” grater that I found in a second-hand store, paying only $13.00 for it.

Bake-less Cookies

  • 3 pounds organic dried mango slices
  • 1 pound organic dried pineapple rings
  • ½ pound organic almonds

Grabbing from the three different foods, feed them through your grinder. They'll come out looking like strands of hair. Shape them into balls and roll them out onto a floured surface. They're ready to eat and very tasty!

You can buy new graters at www.lehmans.com, 877-438-5346. Also, watch for them in antique and second-hand stores. I see them all the time.
