Honeyed GrapefruitIris flourish

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Makes: ½ grapefruit per guest

Ingredients

½ grapefruit per guest

honey, to taste

butter, to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Wash and dry the grapefruit and cut in half crosswise.
  2. With a sharp knife, cut around and under the entire pulp, being careful to leave all the membrane in the shell.
  3. Now, cut down on each side of each section, loosening each section completely. With two fingers, lift out the center membrane core, to which will be attached the radiating membranes. This leaves the shell containing only the nicely separated fruit sections.
  4. Spread the top of each half with honey and dot with butter. Place in a 350° oven for 15 minutes.
  5. Then turn oven to broil for another 5 minutes, until the honey begins to caramelize. Serve hot as the first course of a special breakfast.
