Game Wheel

It wasn’t so very long ago that people gathered together regularly to play games. For a game of bingo, the wheels themselves were works of art, often hand-crafted from scrap materials. Our vintage model was made from a set of plans passed from church to church in the late ’30s. Using a spoked bicycle wheel, an iron lampshade stand, and pieces of angle iron, the winning number was “found” by a carved piece of wood hanging from a short leather strap. Since my wheel is round like a wreath, some years, I weave fresh greenery and a red ribbon here and there to “holiday it up.”
