FEBRUARY 2013 UPDATE: NOTE TO ALL: THIS HOUSE HAS BEEN MOVED AND IS AT ITS NEW HOME IN EAST TEXAS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, YOU CAN FOLLOW ALONG ON ITS PROGRESS AT THE NEW POST LINK:

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR INTEREST.

JULY 28, 2012 UPDATE: THIS HOUSE IS STILL AVAILABLE. I SURE HOPE THERE IS A FARMGIRL OUT THERE WHO WILL MOVE IT AND TAKE IT TO A GOOD HOME. OTHERWISE I WILL SOON NEED TO LIST IT ON ANOTHER SITE.

I have an old house in my pasture - circa 1901 - that needs to find a new home. It is a farmgirl's dream! I will give it to anyone if they will move it - the sooner the better. It would make a beautiful farm home! See for yourself - here are some pictures of the outside!

It is not currently hooked up to any utilities. The floors are solid hardwood and the walls are solid ship-lap. Most of the ceilings are tongue and groove. It has been wired, but the wires are just hanging below and in the switch boxes. The back porch has been enclosed (I would turn it back into a porch). Both front and back porch floors need replacing due to weathering. Roof is metal with 3 lightning rods.

Email me privately for more details if you would like to see it. I can also provide some pictures of the inside.

Yes, I believe the new owners of the house have already moved it to its new location. There's another thread with pix of the move -- fascinating!

Keep up with the move of this wonderful house. You can subscribe to the new topic (http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=61725) so there isn't as much scrolling to be done. I thought this might be easier for all who expressed an interest in seeing the transformation of this house.

I will definitely post updates here. It will be about 15-20 miles from me, and I will be checking on its progress along the way. I also can't wait to see the finished product.

I would love someone to save that house, restore it, and show us. Good luck.

How Exciting! I agree with Joey- what a wonderful exchange that would be to have it end up in a farmgirls hands! Please do keep us posted.

I'd like to ask what has become of this home. I am very interested in it if it is not already gone. First, if it is available, I would like to see pics of the interior, and maybe if you could give me a brief description of the layout inside, that would be great. Second what can you tell me about the bones of this house. It is very old and has been in the elements without basic protection for some time, is there substantial wood rot, etc. In other words, is this home in a condition that is good enough that it CAN be moved without falling apart. I can envision my family in this home for many long years if the structure is still sound. I am a die hard preservationist so it would be loved most genuinely by me and I would return her to her former glory. This home is spectacular. I just really need more information on it before I can make firm decisions. She would be in great hands if she is fit for travel. :)

Which lone oak tx are you located in? I have been looking for an old house to restore and move onto my property for a while now and I live fairly close to a lone oak in between Houston and San Marcos. My property is located north of San Marcos. If you are within moving distance I would love to come take a look!

Thanks,
